That's great....give Winnick the impression that he's a good writer who deserves to have his work adapted to an animated film....yeah really good idea.

He's generally not my cup of tea when it comes to Superhero comics, but given the fact that the dude has been nominated for a Pulitzer, I'm sure that carries a certain amount of Juice.

Particularly if you note that he's the one adapting his own work into an animated screenplay. But that's the norm these days with Darwyn Cooke, Gail Simone, and Geoff Johns adapting their own work for film and television.

I guess appearing on The Real World hasn't hurt either.

I really don't give a rat's *** about his Pulitzer or his Real World stint....the dude can't write his way out of a paper bag.

Hey, I've got my personal opinions about his work as well, but it really baffles me when people wonder all the time how Winick gets work. Personal tastes aside, he's proven he can sell books. Those Red Hood Batman comics sold and got quite a bit of attention. If they didn't, they wouldn't be adapting them to animation. I mean the press releases write themselves don't they? REMEMBER ALL THOSE YEARS AGO WHEN WE KILLED ROBIN THROUGH THAT PHONE STUNT? WELL GUESS WHAT? HE'S BACK AND HE'S BAD!

You notice all the DC solicitations for his trades that say "written by Pulitzer Prize Nominee"... that catches the attention of the bookstore and library crowd.

There is plenty of DC Animation product out there right now. Vote with your $$$.

In relation to the topic at hand, I'd say being nominated for the Pulitzer would impress upon Winick his abilities much more than writing cartoons.

I didn't read all of the comic series, but I generally stay away from Winnick's work. If Bruce Timm felt it was worth adapting, then maybe I'm wrong about it. He's never produced anything I didn't find worth my time.

If nothing else, this will be the first time Jason Todd makes it into any media outside of comics, so I guess that counts for something.

I think the real thing about the whole Red Hood thing, was that it seems like DC really planned on Jason being Hush, and then it leaked, and they scrambled to change it. Then they let Winnick run with a resurrected Todd for some reason. And then, when he couldn't be bothered to come up with a good explanation for his return, he blamed it on Superboy Prime from the crossover-de-jour. It all rubbed me wrong.

That was the real "cheat" for me. The have established that Superboys punches retroactively change continuity. So Jason would not have woken up in his coffin brought back to life. It would have changed it so the Jason was ALWAYS alive. I would have preferred the Lazarus Pit cop-out over the Superboy Punch.

So which Batman storylines would people prefer to see adapted?

I think Gotham By Gaslight, adapting Mignola's style to animation would be pretty neat.

Even though it's light on the action, I'd like to see The Killing Joke

Yeah that's just bad writing IMO....a cop-out actually. Thus my "can't write his way out of a paper bag" analysis

It would be interesting to see how far they would go in depicting the torture and assault of Babs and her dad.

Would you guys prefer to see it Bruce Timm style or for them to try and animate Bolland's hyper detail?

I have to admit, I recently picked up the remastered Killing Joke and found Bollands colours much less effective than the acidic palatte that Higgons chose originally. Plus the Rumble Fish/Schindler's List B/W with one colour element device really didn't work for me.
