The Thing 80s Cartoon

There's been some awesome bad 80s cartoons threads on here lately, I was hoping that some of you guys might know if there are any links to this crazy show online?

I have weird half memories of this show and I think it will blow my mind to see it again!

I remember watching the Thing as part of the Fred and Barney Meet the Thing packaged show on Saturday mornings. Benjy Grimm had a ring that turned him into the Thing:

Thing ring do your Thing! I think it only lasted for half a season. I remember tolerating it as a kid because I was a kid. But the concept of all these rocks flying form nowhere to build the ever lovin blue eyed Thing is about as hoaky as you can get.

"Thing Ring Do Your Thing!" OMG that has to be the worst abomination in Marvel's animation history. Then again, it was Hanna Barbera doing this show.
Give me the 1978 series with HERBIE the Robot over this one any day!!

For me and my friends it was indeed just cool that THE THING had his own show.
We liked familliar superheroes any way we could get them and we were more
into the comicbook "merch" than actual comicbooks, so stuff like that never got to us.

We are also pretty easy to please entertainmentwise. These days we'd view
most old superhero cartoons are cringeworthy but back then we were
tickled with a phrase like: "Thing ring do your thing."

Give me the 1978 series with HERBIE the Robot over this one any day!!

Funnily enough we were kinda irked with Herbie because we were like "Hey
where's the guy on fire"...what a letdown to get a nerdy robot instead.

What is scary is, before this current link, I have NEVER seen quality footage from this cartoon. Did this "thing" get released?

I vaguely recalled some Thing cartoon with Fred and Barney, but I was still incredibly bewildered when I saw a short of this series on Boomerang one day. HB churned out some utter CRAP back in the day, and this was the biggest rocky pile of them all.

I remeber this show. Didn't they retitle it "Fred & Barney Meet the Schmoo and The Thing too"? in 1980?, or something weird like that.

Hmmmm....

A freind of mine cites this as the worst cartoon ever. It came out around the same time as Turbo Teen. Something that supplanted it's position for me.
