2 Lone Ranger trivia questions.

Thanks to "A Christmas Story" most Americans know that the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse is named "Victor". Anyone know the name of the Lone Ranger's great grandnephew? Or, where the Lone Ranger's mask came from?

Yep. Lone Ranger's mask came from his brother's vest. His brother being a fellow Texas Ranger, Dan Reid Sr., who died at Bryant's Gap in the ambush led by Butch Cavendish. This is where the Ranger's John Reid identity "died" as well.

Lone Ranger's nephew is Britt Reid, aka The Green Hornet. Britt's father was young Dan Reid, son of Dan Sr. above, who figured in the Lone Ranger's adventures. Dan established a newspaper using the money from the Reid family silver mine (also where the Ranger got his bullets). Britt ran the paper for his father.

By grandnephew, I guess you can extend the line to the 2nd Britt Reid, established to be the Van Williams of the Hornet TV series by NOW Comics. There is some confusion in the different versions whether Britt is the nephew or grandnephew of the Lone Ranger. NOW had it both ways.

I'm hoping they delve into the Hornet/Ranger connection now that they are both being published by Dynamite.

I dropped the Dynamite series long ago for that reason. And because the interior art, while great otherwise, made him look like he was about 12 years old in most panels.

I goofed in my long-winded post above. Green Hornet is at the least the Lone Ranger's grand-nephew, but by some accounts (and which Hornet you are talking about) he may be his great-grand-nephew as well.

Reminds me of the movie "Comic Book Villians" about the comic book collection? Guy says " If I had spent half of the time memorizing comics studying I could have been a doctor."

You know I might have that movie title wrong but it wont take long for someone to fix it.

I still havn't seen "Of Mice and Men". Yeah, I went looking for a young John Carradine. Since he already looked old to me in "Captain Kidd" 1945 as Orange Poevey (sp?). In "Bluebeard" 1944, Carradine is clean shaven and looks the youngest I've seen to date. There something about that "VanDyke Goatee" of his, that sharpen his features, almost like a knife.

This is all my fault. I stuggled over "grandnephew" and "great- grandnephew" trying to remember which one it was. I liked your take on my mistake and find that it really is a matter of what time-line is considered. Fantastic quick reply. Thank you.

In case anyone is wondering what James Robinson is doing back in comics after "going hollywood", note that he wrote and directed Comic Book Villains! (and I'm sure most are aware, adapted League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to the screen).
