This also reminds of the classic comic art vs photoshop thread I started a little while back.

It's actually hard to look at that cover because of the overuse/abuse of photoshop. The blurring of the ground just makes my eyes have trouble focusing. In my opinion, what you have is a very sloppy amateurish looking drawing using photoshop to try to make it look more polished and professional than it actually is.

Back in the day, something ridiculous like this would have been a one shot joke issue. Now it's some bloated super hyped mega event. Good grief.

I had every Punisher comic untill it went xrated and he killed Micro. I was just done.

I know about Frankencastle from these boards. That wasnt actually part of teh continuity was it? It was just a one shot like A Man Called Frank right?

About the Photoshop blurring, I saw some in a few Ultimate Spidermans and actually didnt mind. But looking at this cover you're right . It does make my eyes hurt.

Frankencastle is actually part of the regular Marvel Universe 616 (our "Multiple Earth" as designated in Captain Britain) continuity. The current Frankencastle title is the one where The Punisher gets to interact with Superheroes and Monsters like Werewolf by Night, Morbius et al.

I actually thought The Punisher became quite a good read when Garth Ennis was allowed to jump to an adults only out of continuity MAX title. He previously seemed ham-strung with the Superhero elements and more often than not his Marvel Knights Punisher kept wandering into farce (not necessarily a bad thing, but it tends to rub certain fans the wrong way). The Punisher origin tales Born and Tyger were brilliant portraits showing how the thing that became the Punisher was something Frank always has struggled with and that it was simply unleashed on the day his family was killed. Also loved Punisher The End, showing the final days of Frank Castle.

I'm currently enjoying Jason Aaron's new Punisher Max series, which again exists in it's own continuity, but he's just finished off a fantastic origin of the Kingpin and is focusing on Bullseye next.
