I must say I haven't seen too many episodes of this show but I was marking out like crazy over this episode.
No exclusives and no chase figures, please - I'm Canadian!

Haven't watched Smallville for years, but I had to see the JSA...lots of Easter eggs for us fans, and seeing That GL Power Battery & ring in the display case (and I have that same DC Direct prop!) was so cool...plus Jay's helmet, Mr. Terrific's Fair Play...awesome.
Dr. Fate & Stargirl looked good, Hawkman, eh, what can you do? That's a comics only outfit I'm afraid.
The plot itself was pretty poor... I really don't think the Icicle had the power to take out Star Spangled Kid or Fate. And nobody ever heard of the JSA before including Chloe? Really? Giant flying Hawk people and magicians shooting lightning bolts never made the papers? They had a freakin' headquarters downtown!

Hopefully the rest of the JSA will be showing up...Wildcat at least I'd expect.

Since Chloe has always been able to dig up every secret ever held by anyone in 2 seconds, that was a bit hard to swallow. Some quick lip service to Fate casting a spell to make everyone forget the JSA would have worked wonders.

But it's a minor quibble. I hope they have Checkmate's role mapped out well, and aren't just playing lose with a "top secret government conspiracy" plotline. Tess has been one schizophrenic character since day one, so maybe this will explain some of it.

Something occurred to me after the show ended; Having Star-Spangled Kid get the ball rolling here was a nice touch, considering he was co-created by none other than Jerry Siegel! I wonder if any of the creatives involved knew that? I bet Johns did!

I enjoyed it but also would have liked to have seen either GL or Flash in action. Maybe later in the season?

There was a scene where Lois mentions talking to scientist Michael Holt (aka Mr. Terrific)...betting we see him show up soon?

Liked the one-line bit about Lois & Clark as well. Other nice bits were all the thermoses & coffee makers in Wes Dodds' home, the bit about Stripesy, and the Star-Rocket Racer. I really love it when they make every effort to get it 'right'!

I thought it was just great. All in all it's very difficult to bring costumed Super Heroes to the screen without looking totally ridiculous. The story did have to jump to a few quick conclusions, but this is not High Art here... it's entertainment. For the two hours they had to work with, it was quite enjoyable. Ever since Michael Rosenbaum left the show, I abandoned it. This may just suck me back in.

My apologies to Michael Shanks. He really wasn't too bad at all as Hawkman. I just had a hard time seeing the wussy "Daniel Jackson" from Stargate in that role. After bulking up and growing the beard, I hardly even recognized Shanks. He was a little Clint Eastwoody, but the role seemed to call for it. Maybe he could show a little real pain sometimes.

The JSA "reveals" were just excellent. Very tastefully done.

I thought the actor who played Star Spangled Kid was especially good. Real shame we won't be seeing the character anymore.

I have to say Amanda Waller was a HUGE suprise. I used to love her character in JLU. Nice to see her back.

For a CW yarn, this show must have an amazing Special Effects budget. They're borderline Big Screen Good.

This Special has left me with the feeling the Regular Show will be a big letdown when I see it again. I can only hope it carries over some of the momentum.

And I can't stand Tess Mercer. Not only does she annoy me, she's a constant reminder that my favorite character from the show is gone.

I thought it was pretty good, I went back and forth from having goose pimples to getting ****** chills.

The Hawkman guy was cringe worthy at times but he looked like Olivier next to the actor playing the villain. I do kind of wished they had thought up a bigger threat than a guy with a really big icicle.

Loved Pam Grier as Waller and Phil Morris as J'onn was a good choice.

All the little nods and nice little touchs like the JSA office made it more enjoyable.

Ya know, a few seasons back, Dean Cain played an immortal villain that could easily have been Vandal Savage using an alias. In fact, early spoilers/rumors hinted that he was intended to be Savage. They could bring him back, and some of the other JSAers we saw briefly...

Phil Morris rocks the John Jones. I wish he would become a regular. He tends to ground the series when he's on. Maybe it's the whole older man presence. Good replacement for Pa Kent, as far as helping to guide Clark.

Considering all of the heroes and villains that have popped up in the last few years it'd be nice if they could spin off a couple on a team format show....even though the Superman-centric characters would probably go bye-bye, I wouldn't have a problem with a JSA show or a J'onn J'onzz led team.

Totally Enjoyed it! Completely Geeked out. Although Bat eerr I mean Hawkman was lame. Dr.Fate was the highlight I'd like to see a spinoff......

When my husband first told me that the guy they got to play the Martian Manhunter was the lawyer on Seinfeld, I had my doubts. This was the first time I saw Phil Morris in the role, and I thought he worked really well. I just looked him up on the IMDB and he's done a lot of cool voiceover work as well - Jonah Hex on Brave and the Bold, King Faraday on Justice League:New Frontier, and Vandal Savage on JLU. Heck, he's even in Black Dynamite!

I haven't seen in Smallville in so long I couldn't even tell you what season I stopped watching. That said I tuned in for this and loved it. You can add me to the list of those who didn't liek Hawkman's voice but that's minor. I know this was a special event but it was enough to make me think about giving the show another chance.

                              I loved it.
I quit watching Smallville in season one, finding it boring and lame. I watched the Hero Team Up episodes here and there, and thought a spin off with these guys might be ok. After the JSA movie, I want JSA!! For a tv budget, it all worked out pretty cool. I liked Hawkman and the growly voice/attitude, Fate was as he should be....all the references, the artifacts, the "in-jokes",briefly seeing Jonn as a Martian, Doc Mid-Nite... I just loved it all. Reminded me of the Brave and Bold toon, with all its fan boy references. For a tv show, they did a phenomenal job! This isnt the comic universe, so whatever differences arose, or arguments came up (like Fate getting stiffed so easily) dont count. These arent exactly the same characters. If CW doesnt spin some kind of series out of this, they are nuts!!!

One of the best things they did was probably not even noticed by anyone:
They managed to untie the JSA from their WWII roots and still make them work.
I was geeking out the whole time.
Hawkman was a little corny but I guess the only way to really make him look believable would be with a whole ton of CGI money.
Obviously the characters that they showed actual photographs of are going to show up in the future. I can't wait for the Golden Age GL & Flash.
