The Green Lantern movie villain is...

    Hector Hammond?

    Seriously?

Some dude named Peter Saarsgard is playing the big head guy. Huh? How is that going to be entertaining? I'll reserve judgement for now, but...oh hell I won't reserve judgement. That sounds pretty weak.

Sinestro is left out? How did they come to that decision?

I guess this was officially announced on January 12th. I hope it's a bad, bad rumor.

I heard Hammond was the villain early on, and that Sinestro was reserved for a future movie, as the villain anyway. They may be following the post-Crisis take on Sinestro training Hal, also seen in the animated film.

I woulda went in with both guns blazing and used a "name" villain right off the bat....Sinestro has the credentials, Hector Hammond doesn't. But I suppose if they're taking cues from the current revisionist history of GL, then Hector Hammond makes sense in a love triangle with Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris.

Sinestro is in the movie as a villain. He has yet to be cast, although Jackie Earl Haley of Bad New Bears fame has been rumored for the part at Aint it Cool News

I'm sick of JEH as the new comic-book movie "go-to" guy....

I don't don't think JEH is right for the part of Sinestro, either. Sinestro has always been depicted in the comics as at least as tall as Jordan and Haley's about 5-7 or less.

I know there are ways around that, but I'd like to see a more physically substantial actor cast. I think Kevin Kine or Jeff Goldblum would be better. Both may be a bit old.

Of course, Vincent Price would have been perfect if age and death didn't get in the way. If those weren't obstacles then Paul Newman could play Hal and Liz Taylor could be Carroll Ferris. That would be my dream cast for a late 50s early 60s GL flick.

The script is supposed to be really good, but who knows? Campbell's a fine director and I think Reynolds is cast well.

I doubt the Ferris role is very pivotal. Saarguard (Sic) is a very good actor. Daniel Day Lewis would be great for Sinestro. Don't know if they could get him.

I'm going to be positive until I see it. WaRNERS/DC really has to get this right or it will submarine a lot of their plans.

In conjunction with DC's 75th anniversary this year, there is supposed to be some big announcements from the film side as early as this Friday. But then again, I read a lot of crap on message boards that never turn out.

Hector Hammond's been mentioned all along as a character in the movie.

I think Willem Deafoe would be a good Sinestro (face wise)
