    Buying Back Issues Online

What are your favourite online sites to buy Back Issues? Particularly hard to find stuff that others don't stock? Best Prices? Best Selection?

I'm finding buying off of ebay tends to be kind of piecemeal and often the shipping charges from multiple sources ends up not being such a great deal when you are trying to assemble a run of something.

What is your experience with online retailers (shipping charges, customer services, speedy delivery etc)?

If your buying them just to read them, pick up the adobe acrobat scanned books. They are much easier to page through and keep track of.
Providing you don't get headaches from reading stuff on a computer monitor. I have all of them from all the Marvel books.

yeah, I have a lot on disc too but I can't sit and read on the computer. I need a hardcopy in my hand, so most of the discs I have have never been looked at. I did not buy them though so I don't really care. I tried buying on ebay too but agree buying piece meal ends up adding up

The best experience I've had and the only comic shop I'll likely use is Lonestar Comics out of Texas. Their browser can be a little touchy to use unless you have very specific information for what you are looking for. Their stock is great and shipping is lightning fast. Always had good dealing with them. Very professionl and fun to do business with.

I've wanted to give them a try. Maybe I will one of these times.

I'll have to try them as well.. I just spent $100 on a FINE copy of FF #49, so I'll have to check out their pricings.

                *****

I just looked over the site. Looks pretty good. Other than a deal from a badly listed eBay auction, this looks like a site for comparable prices. I like that they'll take money orders, which I use for most of my 'over $100' investments here overseas.

                Thanks for the hint.

PS: I agree on the pdf comic CDs. I really like what I have seen of them (still thinking about buying the FF boxset on Amazon..), but there's nothing like holding the nice crisp original in your hands, or matting/framing the nice VF Silver Age comics with your favorite cover artist..

                  Back issues: mycomicshop.com
You can even trade in old comics for cash or credit. Grading is stricter than CGC. If you buy a book at VG it'll usually grade out at CGC for F or F+.

                  New issues: heavyink.com

Now that the LCS which really wasn't THAT local closed it's doors, I'm with heavyink.com.

$0.99 shipping.... I can't even drive down the block for a buck! 20% discounts on everything, including trades... and if it's still available from Diamond to reorder, they will.

Anyone ever try Comic Collector Live or Atomic Avenue? It seems like a good idea in theory to allow collectors to buy and trade within a comic collectors community, just wondering if anyone has tried trading/buying in practice on those kind of sites.

It seems that it would encourage competitive pricing and benefit buyers (like ebay).
