not a big fan of modern comics, but i'm thinking about buying this run.
any bendis fans here? do you enjoy reading this mini series? no spoilers please

I have mixed Feeling on the Bendis written work ...
I do enjoy the story arc's here or there, that are not the "Mega Event".
However Dislike for the most part his Mega Events,.. because the Out comes seem to never generate any sorta Balance back to everything that was just Torn apart.

i haven't been following marvel for a while so i got some catching up to do (Planet Hulk, civil war, house of m, origins, maybe even world war hulk)
I'm actually enjoying the new X-force, it features a black-ops type x-men team. basically all the killers to do the wetworks type jobs led by Wolverine.

any other books you recommend?

The Entire 21 Issue Run of the New X-Force is Fantastic imo & the mini-cross-over with Cable was Great too !

I have thus far enjoyed Dark Avengers 1-12.. or whatever.. Bendis writes that,.. but so far, like I wrote, it's not the "Mega Event" .

I have been also Reading Cable ..., He's jumping threw Time Protecting a young Girl by the Name of Hope from the Turned Rogue Bishop .

Ms. Marvel is Great imo ..

Deadpool Merc witha Mouth is Fun stuff... issues 1-4 are out now ...

& HULK 1-20 Is Awesome.

Thats it for current Marvel and me , At this time...

For Marvel I'd recommend the JMS run on Thor, Millar and Hitch on Fantastic Four, Brubaker's Captai America run, the Loeb/McGuiness Hulk is good, Dark Avengers, Ellis/Jimenez on X-Men (Astonishing I think it is...)

As much as I like Bendis' stuff, jumping into the Avengers Disassembled/New Avengers/House of M/Civil War/Secret Invasion/Dark Reign is quite a big chunk, and I definitely wouldn't recommend House of M at the top of the heap.

For more self-contained stuff, Dark Avengers is a good place to check out (although having read Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts helps you appreciate it more). His Mighty Avengers run, particularly the initial Frank Cho stuff is generally nice big panel action and mostly self contained.

Rather than House of M, if you want to start at the first New Avengers collection, that will generally get you in on the ground floor of the stuff going on now, but keep in mind Avengers Disassembled is the backstory for House of M.

Or you can go check out Powers!

This is pretty much identical to my current Marvel reading list in terms of what I'm enjoying, adding Hickman's FF as a followup to Millar/Hitch on FF. Matt Fraction's Uncanny X-Men has been a fun ride as well if you are enjoying X-Force.
