That's because the creator Mike Grell is on board. That's always a plus IMO. Just like Dan Jurgens on Booster Gold. The previous series suffered from Bruce Jones on scripts (sorry, his run on The Hulk is the only thing of his I've been able to get into and even that dragged on way too long) and Bart Sears on art. Sears was once a decent artist but I think he's become a parody of himself. He shined on Justice League and the designs for the Hasbro WWF figures but since then I don't think he's been on his game in a long time.

That being said, I only bought the 1st 4 issues of Grell's return to the book. It seemed a little bit of a rehash....you know Deimos is returning (if he already hasn't). And in an effort to spread funds to other comics, Warlord had to be axed unfortunately.

I can see the re-hash but I'm liking where they're going, this last issue was pretty good too

Bruce Jones did manage to bring a certain eerie mood to the Hulk (pun intended), but the weakness in the plots and dragged out non-conspiracy really hurt the title in the long run.

Jones is best on his neo EC style stuff. Like the Warren Mags and Pacific/Eclipse anthologies.

Rip in Time was a fun dinosaur romp way before Jurassic Park.

Great moment in Grell's Green Arrow run or Shark Jump?

That's based on the designs for the short-lived Bart Sears series.....I'd have preferred if they were going by 1st Appearance (as the toy line was called) they'd have used Grell's designs and not Sears'.

I'd say Shark Jump....and wasn't Deathstroke thrown in the mix or was that another arc in Green Arrow entirely?

I probably would have picked up the Bruce Jones run if they had Phil Winslade from the get-go.

Bart Sears ability to tell a sequential story with his art seems to have suffered over the years.

never followed the character at all. The barbarian type stuff never interested me.

I have all of 'em. I really dig Remco's MOTU like figures.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Lovin' the return of the REAL Warlord. I hated that Sears run. Couldn't stomach more than a couple issues of it plus they trashed (jettisoned) all the previous continuity.
I'm hoping that Tinder is finally revealed to Morgan as his son. That's one plotline dangler that has always bugged me.

I picked up the original series from the start (in First Issue Special- btw, a great little series, every issue is a gem even Dingbats of Danger Street! Yay Lady Cop!). Lost interest around the time DC decided to integrate it into the DCU and guest-starred New Gods. I skipped the last couple revivals. I only read a couple issues of the new series, probably will pick up the trades. Glad to see Grell is back- no art though, story only correct?

Favorite Warlord story? The Justice League Unlimited episode set in Skartaris.

                              Well said!!
The last series was a complete crap fest!!!
No continuity from the first series the art was crap the stories were utter garbage. It was an abomination.
I really like the new series maybe because it feels old.
I hope it continues but warlord has not been very lucky for the last few years.
Maybe they should pull a wonder women and continue the numbering from the original series...LOL
As for Tinder,Morgan should have figured it out by now he's not a complete dullard.
Why not bring back deimos he was a great villian.Every other comic book hero has dispatched a foe or two and had them come back over and over again.Take Joker or penguin I mean how many times can they break out of jail already...They have been escaping for like sixty years already...
