Treatment is everything here. From my perspective the entire movie needs to take place in the WW II era with him falling into icy waters and a shadow of Prince Namor coming up at the end of the film. This would set up his appearance in the Avengers movie perfectly. I just hope the insufferable PC mentality in this country does not make Captain America less than patriotic. He's not Capt PC...it's 'America' and he needs to reflect those traditional values, otherwise you get no rub with modern society when he thaws out. If they miss that, they have missed the whole concept. It could be like Ang Lee's Hulk if done wrong.

Sam Worthington seems to be the fans choice over at superhero hype. I know he is a Aussie, but hey so was Wolverine and Bruce Banner

Right but with the things have been going, Cap will be a hero of the 70's and drink a magic potion and wake up in 2009. You know how directors tend to screw with the original ideas because they think their ideas are more simpler and easy to feed to the public. I am crossing my fingers that Captain America gets the respect he needs. If they make Captain America into a doucebag, a lot of countries will laugh at this film.
Trying to send an "all american hero" to the other countries viewing base is going to be hard, plus coming up with a story that they will all like. It is going to be a tough one. Hope the director won't **** it up.

Johnston already said a good part of it will be a ww2 period piece.

I can't wait to see the iconic CAPT. AMERICA brought to the screen---
and one of those reasons is my patriotism.

My biggest advice to the writers/studio/director would be to focus
a good portion of the movie on America's flaws and how America has to
overcome them....all personified through the CAPT. AMERICA character.

I agree with Wrath that other countries will have a huge eye on this character and how it is portrayed, so there has to be somewhat
of a conscious humility to the production and the character itself.

I just hope he doesn't use a big cellophane star to trap Red Skull.

I'd be less worried about "that"^ and more worried about
the possibility of Red Skull causing a wind storm with his superbreath
resulting in a "Three Stooges-esque" sequence replete with
backwards roller-skaters, ice cream hi-jinks and wig jokes.

                  Really ?
I'd be more worried about a Team-up with Richard Prior.

Yeah, as long as the production tone was consistent throughout most of the
the movie, I'd be fine with it.

                    Still...

Apparently, they are trying to take all these Marvel movies and combine them
into one Avengers movie so, adding Richard Pryor would taint everything
they were trying to build as far as tone goes.

Also, apparently Richard Pryor is dead.

Cap's never had a cellophane star, but he has had a clear motorcycle windshield on his arm!

This guy seems like a solid director. I love the Rocketeer, and hopefully Cap will at least partially be a period piece

As long as the Red Skull is not Italian and Cap's costume does not have rubber ears.

I LOVED Captain America when I was a kid. I didn't care that he was American, in fact that made him even better.
