Now Comics did it Twenty Years ago, before reverting back to the "original" Bruce Lee version after a dozen issues.

        She became The Crimson Wasp.

My personal favourite is the futuristic scifi inversion in Dark Tomorrow where Bruce Lee gets to be Green Hornet.

The Cassaday and Ross covers are cool, they can keep Campbell.

I really liked the NOW series. I read an article about it in BackIssue a while back. The Hornet owners and NOW's owner basically torpedoed the series. The heir to the Trendle family HATED the female Kato and ordered her gone.

I can't say I care for the little cape thingy. A bit too efeminate and super-heroey for the Hornet.

I too enjoyed the Now series. they really did a good job of tying all the Hornets from radio, movie serials, tv, etc., together into a cohesive whole. Plus my good friend Mark Hieke worked on the series.

Dont know what approach Dynamite is taking, but I dont like the look of the Hornet..who needs to be in street clothes not whatever that jackety thing is, and Kato looks too much like the mystery assassin from Sky Captain.

Kevin Smith is adapting his screenplay for the first arc. After that they have other creative teams rotating in, including Brett Matthews who writes the Lone Ranger for Dynamite and writes various Joss Whedon shows/comics.

I still have the now comics series with the rest of my comics they were pretty good at the time.
I don't think I'll bother this time around.Dynamite just makes me mad by issuing 100 different covers all the time.
Not sure if I should keep my nows or try to get rid of them,I need to make some serious room.

So what's changed now that a female Kato is being tried again. Not that I think it will succeed, as before I expect classic Kato back.
Couldn't care less about Alex Ross' work anymore. He's effectively destroyed his reputation IMHO with the constant churning out of product for Dynamite (does he have financial interest in the company I wonder?). And as noted, none of his work has any innovative appeal anymore...I picture his studio having a huge stack of these stock hero poses ready to go, just waiting for Dynamite, DC, or Marvel to call and say, "Hey Alex, we'll need 3 Captain Americas, a Green Hornet, and 2 Supermans by Tuesday!" " "No problem, just remember to send me the check for the Deluxed Signed limited Edition Lithograph of each!"

Dynamite and their 10 covers per issue nonsense is kind of ridiculous too...is there anyone truly buying ALL of these everytime? And seriously Dynamite, for every issue? No, wait, there were no variants that I know of for the Sherlock Holmes series, which was excellent. I've picked up one or two variants here & there, mostly the Lone Ranger stuff, but only when I've found it for cover price.

I'm confused by his relationship withy Dynamite as well...his recent work for Marvel, the Avengers/Invaders and The Torch mini-series have the Dynamite imprint on them as well as Marvel's....
