The Siege ... 7 Yrs in the Making ?.

    Yeah So ...,

They Say this new Event Book called the Siege for Marvel is a Project 7 Yrs in the Making. So Bendis and Joe Q .., Am I lead to believe that these 2 F'ed up the Entire Marvel Universe..., Killed Cap, Replaced Fury with Tony, and Now Osburn , Erased the last 30 yrs of Spider-man , Destoryed Alantis screwing over Namor ... All for this Series for them to restore Order ,.. huh ?

The Last 2 Big event series for Marvel have left me at Meh,.. at best. I can't really think of anything extremely right on or cool in either Civil War or Secret Invasion that even wants me to pick up this new Event. I do like Dark Avengers ... Deodato's Art work is Fantastic,. I like Ares and Sentry,.. the Way Moon Stone and Bullseye are written make for a Fun read...Steve Rogers is back,... But thats just not enough for me to get involved in this ...

Unless someone(s) Tell me different ,.. or there's a ton of Possitive Buzz around this..., perhaps I might wait for the Trade..., I just think It will be lack Luster, and Ultimately Disapoint me like the others did.

I wasn't *****ing about the Muilti Cross-Over "collect them all" angle of the Nonsense ..., I was More so *****ing about the Fact that if I did..., I believe that in the end, I would be Disapointed with the Cash flow spent,.. and story as well as the out come ..., And more so wanted to see if people agreed, or wanted to explain to me how Awesome this event is going to be and convince me otherwise.

Civil war was ok..., but then the result of it, was Killing Steve Rogers ... Secret Invasion ..., was something that could have been so much more than it was,,, ... and they had the perfect story to do so much..., but the end Result was Osbourn getting Fury's Keys , and turning into Luthor. ... If thats whats gonna happen again..., and someone can just give me a 1 or 2 sentence conclusion of up to speed, ... thats just what I think this will be.

I can see BK's point...this stuff has dragged on with no pay-off in sight......

As compared to Blackest Night, yeah there's lots of tie-ins and cross-overs, but there should be a finite end to the story. GL:Rebirth set the ground work for a lot of this and Sinestro War built on it, but you really don't have to read those thing to enjoy Blackest Night....it's a pretty easy read going in.

But try to explain to a casual reader everything that's happened to the Marvel Universe since Avengers:Disassembled? Good luck.....

Hah! I dumped that with like the 3rd issue....Still was trying to give Morrison the benefit of the doubt but I can't get into the whole Dick Grayson as Batman angle.....Wake me when Bruce Wayne returns in is back in the cape and cowl.

Given the fact that you're into Dark Avengers, they will no doubt be front and centre in this event, and both books are written by Bendis, I think you already have your "in" for this event. Unless you decided to skip the Dark Avengers tie-in issues.

While the events themselves were okay reads, I have enjoyed certain stuff that has spun out of it. Coming out of Civil War, Mighty Avengers had some amazing Frank Cho action packed artwork, Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts with Deodato, Bucky-Cap's been quite enjoyable in the hands of Brubaker. From Secret Invasion I've been following Dark Avengers and Hickman's Secret Warriors.

I've cut back on so much of my new comic reading in the past year that I'm only buying one Marvel title- Captain America, mostly just to keep up the series. I lost interest halfway through Secret Invasion. Dropped Avengers when it just meandered around, killing time with event crossover issues.
I liked Agents of Atlas and Iron Fist, both pretty much gone for now. I tried Thor again, same story as Avengers (and didn't they already do the Lost Gods thing where they had mortal bodies back in the 80S?). Hercules was pretty good, but I think I'll read that in trades.
So I'm not looking for anything out of this Seige story, but hopefully Cap, Iron Man, & Thor will reform the Avengers and maybe I'll give it a go once more.

Marvel's events have been mediocre to me, but Iron Man, Thor and Cap have been good reads for me for a while and Hickman is doing some good stuff with the Fantastic Four.

Blackest Night proper (the mini and the 2 GL books) have been great, excellent. But the last month with nearly every DC book being a Blackest Night tie-in has been overkill to me. It's getting really tired and boring, like the weekend when my neighbor in my college dorm left his Joshua Tree album constantly replaying on "11" when he went home for a weekend. You can get sick of anything, even something that's good.

Again, the mini and the two GL books have been great, but I'm ready for the conclusion already, which isn't scheduled until March but probably won't actually be out until May. Good thing Ethan Van Sciver isn't working on it or it would be next December. I betting Manupal has more of the first issue of the new Flash regular series completed now than Van Sciver has on the final issue of Flash Rebirth.

It's ironic that DC puts its slowest artist on the Flash.

While I'm enjoying World of Krypton and I'm ready for Superman to be Superman again and for mediocre rip-off type characters like Mon-El, Nightwing and Flamebird and the Guardian to fade back into obscurity.

I like Batman and Robin because I know Bruce will be back at some point and it is so much better than the two-year Azreal as Batman run in the 1990s.

I am looking forward to the Bruce traveling back through time story from Morrison, although his work has been underwhelming of late.

IS Flash Rebirth even coming out anymore? I've totally lost track of it.

^ One issue left I think.....Poor co-ordination all the way around on this one. Johns has bitten off way too much lately as far as scripting duties go, so Rebirth suffered in it not being his best work. Going into the home stretch, it's finally moving at a decent pace.....Very slow start. Again ironic for a Flash book. But maybe that's to be expected somewhat to explain the juxtaposition of Barry Allen with the modern DCU.

Van Sciver....love his work but they really should have had all the issues in the can before soliciting. His hyper-detailed pencils, similar to George Perez, make him a naturally slow artist. Johns had the same problem with Perez on Legion of 3 Worlds. Worth the wait? Perhaps, but not at the expense of the impact of a quick storyline. Especially since the Flash is already playing a major role in Blackest Night which takes place AFTER Rebirth.

^^^ I didn't realize Sciver Had issues with Dead Lines Untill Flash ReBirth Came out .... Very disapointed about how long it's taken this book to complete and come out ... I also Kinda Disliked the Book,.. Until about Issue 3 , I think that's what it was... Far 2 Slow..., and just Not something I really care for in a Story. Barry's Role and Story linew in Blackest Night is 1000 times Better.

I never bought the single issues of a Legion of 3 Worlds.... I waited for the HC..., I picked that Bad Boy Up,.. and was Able to read it all off and on a few weeks Back. I am glad I did it that way..., It was Fantastic,.. and Perez is STILL 1 of the Greatest !!!!

DC only schedules Van Sciver to complete 6 issues a year and he's still late. He was supposed to have all this lead time on Flash, too. I love his work but I suspect his issue with lateness is more than just his highly detailed art.

Generally, lateness doesn't bother me that much as a reader, but dating back to his work on X-Men with Morrison, he's always been late. GL Rebirth basically became a bimonthly after the first two issues.

Again, why should I complain about it when I know it's going to happen.

I give Perez a more of a break. He's older and has at various points in his career (Avengers, FF, Titans, Wonder Woman and most recently Brave and Bold) been able to keep a monthly schedule. But to my knowledge, Van Sciver never has, even when DC schedules his work well ahead of its publication date.

Maybe DC should put him on the new Earth One projects and as Anthony suggested only solicit when he's finished.

I suspect Flash Rebirth will hold together better being read when collected as Jason suggested with Legion of 3 Worlds.

I'll quit my griping now. It is Christmastime afterall.

Phil Jimenez is just as detailed as Perez and Van Sciver....what's his monthly output? Isn't he doing some Spider-Man work currently? I haven't heard about that falling behind.....
