Really like the episode premises, especially the ones with original villains, reminds me of some of the 67 Spider-Man episodes. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

It's been a couple of years since I watched any BTAS. I love Brave & Bold, but I'd trade it for more BTAS in a heartbeat. The advantages of B&B over BTAS are the guest stars they work in and that the stories are more kid friendly. They aren't enough for me to displace BTAS as my favorite take. A little more Kimandi in B&B might make me rethink that though.Comment

Neat. Some of the drawings hint that the Penguin and CatWoman looked much more like their earlier comic/ and 66 tv series versions than the film version looks they ended up with. No biggie with Catwoman, but I always hated the Danny DeVito "mutant" Penguin look."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

Yeah. Overall I think BTAS was the BEST representation of ol' Bats to date. The only thing that really bothered me was that BTAS came out just at the point Japanese cartoons were coming to the main, and they "borrowed" A LOT form the Japanese.

Renee Montaya had a murdered police officer husband as a back story! Did they pick this up in the comics as well before she was outed as a lesbian (was it by Rucka?).Comment

Thank you so much for posting this, ctc!
Imagine what we would have missed out on if BTAS hadn't been what it was. No Superman: The Animated Series....Justice League....Justice League: Unlimited.....
If I understand correctly, it initially aired with a new episode every weekday, then a couple of times weekly. (I lived outside the US at the time) Can you imagine something that good airing every day????Last edited by saildog; Dec 16, '09, 8:18 PM.Comment

BTAS is still the watermark any comic adaptation should be judged by, either live action or animated. Any mediocre episode is superior to the first 4 modern Batman films. I was in high school when BTAS began airing, and I never missed it.
I love Brave and the Bold too, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat if Timm and company restarted BTAS/TNBA or Justice League again, with the same staff and actors. The DCU at it's finest, in and out of the comics.

I think Marvel has it all over DC when it comes to movies and while I have enjoyed the Bale Batman Flicks, have all the hope in the World for Green Lantern, and wouldn't mind seeing some other DC characters in a live action movie....I have been more than happy with the DC Animated Universe. In some ways, I wish they would sink all their money into more DC Animated stuff. I think DC animated at its best....beats any movie I have seen to date.Comment

Yeah, Batman in my Basement was the pits. WB briefly let some PC meddlers get involved with the show, I think at Fox's request. Luckily their influence didn't last long.
But if the run-of-the-mill episodes (not the occasional bad ones) are better than just about any other comic adaptation.

Well.... I wasn't real impressed with the Justice League shows. They were okay, but kinda flat. And I HATED "The Adventures of Supercube!"

Gotta agree. Mostly 'cos they didn't get caught up in one aspect of the characters and setting. And they didn't try to fill every scene with hyperbolic action. (One of the NICE things they borrowed from the Japanese was the idea of establishing shots....)
