    Gary Frank's Superman

I'm sure this has been discussed already, but after reading Secret Origins #3, I'm getting a bit tired of looking at, what feels like to me anyways, sketches of screen captures from the movies for Chris Reeve. This issue just seemed to scream movie adaptation to me.

    sorta spoiler.....

Especially the helicopter (even thought the circumstances were different.)

    I disagree.
    It's an ORIGIN story.
I think it's fantastic they incorperated some aspects of the Chris Reeve's Superman Flick into the Book..., & Love the Fact that Frank channels Reeve's with the Pencil.

Yeah I don't mind it either....Frank's Superman has always been scripted by Geoff Johns and Johns has a great love for Reeve's Superman so it seems natural

I don't mind that they are basing the new origin on the movie and that they are basing the look on it, too. (Although I did like the less clumsy Kent of the last 20 years). The problem I had with issue #3 was that it looked less like artist interpretation and more like drawings from screen stills. I didn't get that from Lois or the other characters, only Superman/Clark. Obviously, he uses something as reference, but it still bugged me this issue.

Not really a far stretch given that Chris Reeve is Superman to an entire generation of readers out there.

I just wish they got him on board for Donner's initial run instead of Kubert. I would have loved to see a more Terrance Stampish Zod.

Now if they could just start drawing Supergirl like Helen Slater!

Mehh, I don't care for Chris Reeve, so I'm avoiding Frank's stuff.

I love it. I haven't noticed any pure swipes in Frank's work yet. He's managed to create a comic version of Reeve and consistently show him from every angle and emotion. It's like Reeve and Curt Swan's Superman merged. Great stuff.

DC needs to release the covers as a poster or a print. I also liked the variant cover for the latest issue.

Supes' mom looks a bit like Michelle Pffeiffer, with augmentation.

Don't really like the beard on Jor-EL, but no biggie.

Crap, did I miss issue 4?

This is the best artist I've seen maybe since Byrne for Superman. Just fantastic stuff. It has the spirit of C Reeves in every panel. There is adoration and respect on each page for Reeves the actor and for Superman/Clark the character. You can't fake that. The creators have a genuine love for what they are doing. That, above anything else, makes this book special to me.
