    Theories on Freddy/Cap

ok so it's Freddy/Cap that is evil and tore Speedy's arm off... What will be the reason? The magic powering him is not the real Shazam magic? as said by the Wizard when he stripped Billy ,Mary and Teth Adam? Could this be a way to get Billy the powers again?
I'm really disappointed in DC's handling of the Marvel Family the last year, Evil Mary, Billy powerless for no reason, and now Evil Freddy?

Yeah the whole Marvel Family has been dead to me for quite a while.....I really don't understand why they (DC) keep constantly crapping all over these guys.

The whole Trial of Shazam series was a waste IMO. The logic behind creating a character in the red and white outfit and actually calling him "Shazam" (Freddy's new role) was stupid. Who cares if the general public gets confused and thinks Captain Marvel is "Shazam", they're not the ones reading the stuff anyway, and no name change is going to get them to buy his books. In fact, I wear a Flash watch occasionally and some non-comic reading people initially think he's Captain Marvel because of the lightning bolt. And they call him "Captain Marvel"....so the name is not lost by no means.

Mary Marvel....why they felt the need to dirty up her character TWICE in one year is beyond me....They did it in Countdown and then Morrison did it again in Final Crisis. It's like she represents a purer, innocent time and they (DC) can't stand that. So make her an evil *****....

Black Adam...Great villain but DEFINITELY over-exposed. So much so that I believe they've placed a moratorium now on his use for a while....

Who would you guys hand the Shazam franchise over to?

I know Geoff Johns has expressed interest in getting his hands on it someday, and his work with Black Adam/Isis has been pretty solid. I saw some interesting proposal art from Alex Ross in an issue of Alter Ego a while back. Maybe throw in Ethan Van Sciver if you had him go back to his more cartoony "Bigfoot" style employed in Impuse and Cyberfrog to give it that sense of contemporary whimsy.

Although to be honest, I quite enjoyed Jeff Smith's mini. Particularly how they handled Tawky Tawny. I think he's been the best at balancing the all the elements of adventure and humour since the original incarnation.

Give it back to Jerry Ordway....maybe with Geoff Johns co-plotting and Alex Ross on covers.

^^^ I dunno about that, his JSA fill ins seemed pretty weak. Geoff Johns is quickly loosing a bit of his shine, too. The Flash miniseries is painfully lame.

I think with the Flash mini it came at a bad time...too much of Johns' attention has been devoted elsewhere with Blackest Night. His Superboy on Adventure has been ok but unnecessary. It would have been better to have had him devote his efforts on the Flash instead to get the ball moving quicker. His Superman: Secret Origin is pretty solid IMO.
