I have it on VHS, the studio apparently tinkered with the film, it's too bad as the casting was terrific.

Up until the last 10 minutes of the movie, I really like it. Campy fun! It just seems like they didn't know how to end the movie and it turns into a train wreck.
            Hey! Check out the pictures.

If you compare it to the pulp stories it is a travesty.
Judged on it's own it's a lot of fun and I have always liked since I first saw it in 1975. My parents felt I was too young to go to the movies at night by myself. Despite having to go with my older sister I still had a great time.
I knew about Doc Savage before the movie but it's what really got me interested in the pulp stories and pulps in general so I am grateful to it for that.
After seeing the movie I redressed my MEGO Superman figure to resemble Doc
as close as possible. I picked Supes because his hair was the closest to the way Doc appeared on the paperback covers by James Bama. Our picnic table became Doc's dirigable headquarters. It might not have been accurate but it sure was fun.
Incidently, back in the '60s a movie version of "The Thousand Headed Man" was propsed. Despite not being made there is a Gold Key comic book adaptation that is usually considered to have been an intended tie in. Unfortunetly the artwork is terrible. Incidently, Chuck Connors was to have played Doc Savage. An interesting choice.

Definitely. I really like this one, even though they kinda tinkered with the characters. It exists in it's own little section of the movie universe. In some ways it struck me as being almost a prototype to the post-Batman 89 "make it surreal and comic-booky" principle of film.
