That theme song is terrific and despiteit's flaws, I still love this movie mostly because of this montage:

Oh and I encourage Frank Miller to quit directing.

I think this may be the only movie I have ever seen Sam - Flash Gordon - Jones in other than Flash Gordon.

                Spirit

Awesome! I still have a grainy VHS copy of this movie that I made when it was first broadcast; the montage sequence is my favorite part of the film as well, Brian! I thought Sam Jones (of "Flash Gordon" fame) made a great Spirit, and the blue suit in the TV version was much better than the all-black affair Miller designed (why would he change such a basic element of The Spirit as his blue suit?).
I don't believe this version has ever been available commercially; A shame, as I'd love to own a nice copy.

I recall a short-lived late-80s TV show that Sam Jones starred in: a Sci-Fi program called "The Highwayman", or somesuch.

I've got every episode of that show. He was also Lorne Green's son on the short lived Irwin Allen series "Code Red".

I seem to recall Howie Long (of the then-LA Raiders) guest starring on an episode of "Highwayman", is that correct? As I remember it, the show was kind of a Mad Max-type clone.

I recall liking the Spirit movie, but I haven't seen it since it first aired. I was a big fan of the Highwayman. Jocko had his 15 minutes of fame all at once with that and Energizer commercials before that damn bunny showed up!
