A couple of weeks ago I was strolling through the toy department in a local Zellers department store, when I had to stop and do a double take. There, on the pegs right beside the Marvel 3 3/4" figures hung comic books. Now, this isnt a huge deal as Wal Mart, and many major book chains up here still sell rack comics. Difference here was, these were polybagged, boarded, and hanging on a hook. I flipped through the titles, and all were prominent DC or Marvel titles (not just the Junior titles) but all where older books from last year and early this year.
Today, I sought escape from the Christmas mobs, and headed for the toy department (mobs are much easier to handle in comfortable surroundings). Lo and behold, a couple of hooks of maybe a dozen total comics had grown into 4 pegs chock full of comics. Unlike the last assortment, this group all had Sept 09 dates on them. Now when you figure in transport times from the publisher to the warehouse, and then through the system to the store shelves, I'm betting these were new when they were packaged and shipped.
I guess I dont really have a point here...but its cool to see comics available in more locations (and selling well) again!
