"Lanterns is an upcoming American superhero television series created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King for HBO, based on the DC Comics Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart. It will be the third television series in the DC Universe (DCU). It features experienced Lantern Jordan and new recruit Stewart as they investigate a murder on Earth that leads to a wider mystery. The series was produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television with Mundy serving as showrunner."

This a series I'm looking forward to. I hope it'll be presented seriously. I really didn't like the newest Superman movie, since I thought it was too campy. I hope if the series is successful, they'll eventually bring in Alan Scott. From articles I've read about a possible Lantern series over the years, it was originally going to be an anthology, with a chapter dedicated to Scott, set in the 40s.

I liked the first episode. It's a different take for sure, but I knew that going in. There's still enough Lantern lore to keep my comic geek mind interested. And the show itself is intriguing. The cast was great and I liked the takes on the characters.

If you haven't seen it yet, beware, because there are no doubt spoilers out there that you will want to avoid and experience yourself.

Also, in case you are thinking about watching this with young kids...I wouldn't. Tons of adult lanuage and situations. More in the vein of Peacemaker in that department, even though it's not at all a comedy.

We watched it last night and it does feel like DC Comics version of True Detective. It deals with several time frames dealing with Hal Jordon & John Stewart.

I have no real background in this, so just watching as a fan of superhero movies. It was a little slow but interesting. I’ll definitely keep watching!

I thought it was well done. Great cast. Intriguing twists. Left me wanting more.

Reminded me quite a bit of Lindelof's "Watchmen" show... which was also one that made bold decisions that divided the fanbase, but I thought was absolutely brilliant.

Just watched the first episode. I thought it was great. Thought there were too many f bombs, but other than that, entertaining. Not that I've never used it before, but it was always a family rule not to do it in casual conversation. On other matters, could Garrett Dillahunt's character Macon be a front for Lex Luthor? He said he had an employer, and the great concern over extraterrestrials. The ranch could have been set up as an observation post in that area if it's known it's where Abin Sur crashed.

The more I think about it, for a real entertaining twist Macon's employer could be ...Bruce Wayne.

9.3 million views the first three days on HBO Max. Biggest debut for a DC show yet. I watched it last night and thought it was pretty good, looking forward to watching the rest of the season.
