13 Things to Love About Superman II

I think most folks here love Superman II anyway, but here are my thoughts on what I love best about it, despite the theatrical film being a potential disaster that should have never worked!

It was nice to see Superman fight supervillains in the movies. Reminded me of the Batman '66 universe.

Great article. Loved this at the time, but as time has passed, as you pointed out, some of the humor is silly. But still a great movie!
Not sure which version I like better, cause I do like the Donner cut.

I'm glad the Donner cut exists, but I think it works better as an extended "extra" than as a feature on its own. The use of the screen test footage when Lois "shoots" Clark to reveal his secret alone is enough to take me right out of it every time. Plus, using the "turn back time" ending that was originally meant for II, but was used in the actual released version of the first film was a mistake. I know its how the film was originally going to end, but it makes it seem like Superman can just undo anything when he wants to.

Michael Thau and everyone involved did a great job putting it together, but in my mind, it will never replace the theatrical cuts, oppossing directions and all.
