42 years ago Supergirl was released worldwide on June 19, 1984 but in America is wasn't released until November. Supergirl was a spin-off from the Superman film series and is set after the events of Superman III (1983).

Now I remember watching this at the theater. It was a strange movie and I wondered why Superman did show up either at the beginning or At the end.

I also got the the directors cut DVD, while better it was still a strange movie.

With all these retro figures coming out and we still do not have a Helen Slater Supergirl figure.

They didn't plan on cinematic universes then. Even though it's loosely set in the same world, I'm sure Reeve wanted to do other things after Superman 3. Sup 3 was the last one I bothered to see in the theaters. After that experience, I waited to rent the VHS. They did have Jimmy (Marc McClure) though. Supes does have a cameo in the poster on Lucy Lane's wall. Superman Returns was set in this world. I read that if it had been successful, they were going to try to build a universe then. Supposedly, Jude Law might have played Zod. Would have been interesting to see a recast Supergirl.
