    Superman III 6-17-83

43 years ago, Superman III was released at the theaters:

"Entrepreneur Ross Webster teams up with a computer genius in order to realise his own evil intentions. When Superman obstructs his plans, he decides to destroy him."

I remember I was 12, in Jr High watching the movie. It was different from the first 2 but was good. I was thinking they were creating Brainaic but that didn't turn out.

I was 8 when my mom took me to see it, and even then, I knew this was an odd film. I didn't understand why it was trying to be so goofy. I liked Richard Pryor from seeing the edited versions of Silver Streak, etc. on TV, but why was he in a Superman movie?

There are some of the best moments of the series in this film (the junkyard fight between "evil" Superman and Clark), and some of the worst (Pryor skiing off the building, etc.). But despite it's MANY flaws, there's still a lot to love, as I covered here a few years ago.

This is the Superman film I didn't see in the theatre. On HBO however, Ross' computer-zombie sister scared me, and I still find her unsettling.
