45th anniversary Raiders of the Lost Ark

    Released on: June 12, 1981

    Raiders of the Lost Ark

"In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones is tasked by Army Intelligence to help locate a legendary ancient power, the Ark of Covenant, before the Nazis get it first."

I remember when my whole family went and to watch Raiders. I was 10 so watching this rollercoaster of a film was fun and scary.
    .
Now way back when our theater was next to a pizza buffet, a VHS rental and a ice cream/arcade parlor. So on those rare occasions we went to the movies we would then go eat pizza and ice cream. A rare family outing growing up.

So what was your memory when this came out?

I was 12, not quite 13, when Raiders came out. For me, it hit almost as big as "Star Wars", but maybe in different ways. Certainly one of the movies that I list when I think of being a kid and getting to have a wonderful theater experience and having all your friends be abuzz about it, too.

I got to catch it on the big screen two summers ago, I think. It was the first time I had seen it on the big screen since 1981 and it was quite a treat. That same theater is showing it again this summer....next weekend, in fact, and I am planning on going.

Great movie, I remember seeing it in the theater too, and collecting the action figures.

i remember begging my mom to go see it. she had already gone once and thought it might be too scary for 9 year old me. I loved it then, and I love it now. one of my all time favorite movies

I think it's a "perfect" movie, very enjoyable. Hits all the right beats with engaging characters, well-cast.

Yeah, pretty much a perfect movie. Saw it in the theater with my parents....probably a little too young to be seeing it but that goes for a lot of movies from that period lol. Its one of those movies I end up watching once a year or so.
