    Len Strazewski (February 16, 1955 – April 27, 2026)

This one is too close to home. Len was my "sensei" He taught me the art of comic-book writing and also warned me that "comics would break your heart" and he was right.

As noted above in the link real briefly; Len Strazewski was best known for co-creating both Prime and Prototype as a founder of Malibu's Ultraverse, writing Starman, Flash, JSA, Phantom Lady, The Fly, and Action Comics Weekly for DC Comics, Speed Racer and Dai Kamikaze for Now Comics, Trollords for Tru Studios, Super-Teens for Archie, Street Fighters and Elven for Malibu. I am trying to find out more info on when his funeral services are going to happen and right now is not the time for me to go into my history with Len. This is all too much and I am starting to freak out. Sorry. I promise to tell more later. Sorry.

My condolences. I enjoyed his work, especially on JSA and Impact's The Fly. My friend Shag is covering his JSA run on the Justice Society Presents series on our Fire and Water Podcast Network.

Sorry to read this. It was a rough week for the dream makers of our youth. He carried the torch of the JSA at DC after Thomas and before Robinson , Goyer and Johns.

Well, sorry for your loss. To me he was one of those names I would always see in the 90s. Wasn't he involved with Harris Comics Vampirella reboot?

Danny, that I couldn't tell you. A) my memory is sooo shot and B) I don't think Len ever mentioned Harris comics.

Real quick let me tell ya some stories. Does anyone remember the FLASH pvc set?

Well, people were coming up to Len, showing him the set and having him sign it and he was upset. No on at DC told him it was coming out and he wanted a ROYALTY!

So before you know it he is on the blower to Paul Levitz in NYC, complaining and after some back and forth; Paul says to him, "Listen Len, here's what I will do. I'll send you a check for $50.00 and two of the sets for your collection." And he did.

Before JSA (92) issue # 1 came out he was told that the book is CANCELLED. Any crap you might have read or heard about LOW SALES is dogschet! Len had the statements and those books sold over 100,000 copies apiece. Why was it cancelled?

This all starts with Mike Carlin, holding a grudge against Len, when Len replaced ROGER STERN on the 80's STARMAN.

Oh yeah, like Len a writer set himself up for that. HA! And because of that cancellation, Mike Parobeck got depressed and didn't eat properly and he had Diabetes and he died.

          FCK Carlin.

When any asks who is the greatest villain the JSA ever had, the correct answer is: Mike Carlin.

Carlin had Len pretty much Blackballed from DC. One year, DC was having a party at Wizard here in Chicago and you needed an invite to get in. So Len went as MIKE BARR's "Date" cause Barr had two tickets and Carlin was at the door and asked him, "Len what are you doing here?" He replied back, "I'm Mike's DATE!" Bwahahahahaha!

          Gonna miss that man.
