The boldest part of the Super Friends live-action experiment wasn’t the heroes.

Between 1975 and 1977, DC’s made-for-TV Super Friends movies quietly introduced television audiences to the first ever live-action Legion of Doom — a rotating cabal of super-villains assembled exclusively for prime-time event films.
These weren’t simple monster-of-the-week antagonists.
They were masterminds.
Each special positioned the Legion as an organized criminal empire:
