    Superman (2025) 5 minute-preview

Really surprised no one has posted this here. A few years back there would have been three posts started at the same time. Changing times, I guess.

Either way, this look absoultely wonderful. Great blend of Silver/Bronze/Post-Crisis/All-Star and the Reeve films.

Looks really good to me, too! That said: (1) I keep hearing that the entire film is getting mixed reviews in preview screenings, and (2) I've never liked the Guy Gardner character, with the very limited exception of the first few issues of the Giffen/DeMatteis/McGwire reboot of "Justice League," when Batman would scowl (or punch) him into submission.

I would take the word of preview screenings with a grain of salt. The Snyder Bros are out in full force hating on this film. Unless I hear it from a reputable source that actually polled people coming out of screenings, I'm not putting much weight into it. Not sure why Snyder's fans are still holding a grudge when that era is long over, and Snyder and Gunn are actually friends. Just mind-boggling.

looks good to me. I am not sure how well the robots will play to modern audiences, but it is great homage to a lot of Supermans history

The beginning part seemed a bit quirky, which i liked. The rest looked more like standard superhero movie fare, which i liked too.

You know, despite the fact that I've always loathed Guy Gardner, I'm not mad at this. Hits a lot of good beats, and now more than ever we need to "look up." I'll take some cute moments over gritty ones.

Regarding the Snyder films, there's not one besides Watchmen I've rewatched--and personally, repeat viewings are the sign of success.

Won me over. Looks like a fun superhero movie kids will enjoy. I bet the post credit scene teases Brainiac(which I have been waiting over 40 years to see on the big screen.

I really liked this. The one thing I can say about this that I haven't really been able to say about a lot of DC movies of recent vintage it that it has heart. For me, it hit all the right notes for Superman and hit most of the notes I want in a Superman project. There are things to quibble about sure (but I find things to quibble about in every super-hero movie whether I like them or not), but I'm excited about this.

I'm really digging this. Gunn isn't avoiding the real-world implications of a super hero, but he's also not wallowing in dour misery either. There's enough whiz-bang and hope in this trailer to let me know its going to be a fun ride, but not fluff either. Finally getting to hear Corenswet as the character was nice too. He's got a great voice for it.

While I agree and I'm definitely optimistic, I do worry that it is a lot of characters it is trying to juggle...

My worry is they will go grimdark and kill Krypto. That would be such a cheap gut punch.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

My wife has that fear as well because Gunn has made her cry but I can't see it happening. It would be something Snyder would do.

I have a friend who is perfectly content to watch the most graphic violence happens to humans, but if something happens to the dog, she nopes the f out. She now checks that site before she watches anything.

There's a tie-in with Milk Bone dog biscuits, and a series of Krypto shorts releasing AFTER the film on Max or HBO Max or whatever they are calling it today. I think he's safe.
