What I've always wondered, is how in the heck was Universal going to pull off the Human Torch back in the 70s on a TV budget? He would probably just create fires rather than be "flamed on". But if he's like that, what's the point of licensing the name?
Oh and I love Sue's mullet on the cover above!

Our local ABC affiliate didn't air Spider-Woman for some reason, they chose to run "woody Woodpecker" in it's place (no idea as to why) but it drove me crazy at the time. You'd see ads for Spider-Woman all morning then "Guess Who?" at 10:30 Aggghhhhh!
So as a teen I tracked down some episodes finally, whoo-boy does that show suck!Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

John Byrne turned that urban legend into an issue of Fantastic Four.
Great issue, despite the unnecessary appearance of the Beyonder, complete with Jheri Curls and Jumpsuit.
I've always felt that John Byrne was the only guy aside from Kirby/Lee to figure out how to make great FF comics. He really knew and respected the characters.
Didn't Byrne also do a story where HERBIE went crazy and tried to kill everyone - The Thing finally got to take some swings at him?Comment

I have it, it's on three DVDs and the quality is probably 8/10. Very watchable. $15.00 shipped if anyone wants it. Just PM me.--

That WAS a great issue! At the time I thought the Beyonder was cool, but going back and reading this stuff now he's pretty annoying.

I think for a while there HERBIE was like Kenny from Southpark in the number of times he's been destroyed and rebuilt, but it was a good twist to make him evil given the fact that it was pretty subversive for Marvel to make their cuddly cartoon robot a sleeper possessed by a bad guy. Wasn't he originally designed to track Galactus or something?
I actually recently enjoyed Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's run on the title, but I'm liking Jonathan Hickman's latest arc even more. It really addresses quite a lot of the problems with Reed's character in the past few years with such wildly differing interpretations from Claremont, Waid, JMS, Dwayne McDuffie and Millar in the past decade.Comment

I loved the FF when I was a kid so this show was a must watch for me, even without the Torch (I too am very curious about how they would have managed the flame effects for a low budget 70's TV show. It probably would have been really sucky!). I haven't seen the show since I was a kid, and I kind of want to remember it in a positive light, so I'm not gonna try watching it now. (like what happened when I tried to sit through the POTA cartoon a couple years ago)Comment
