    The Crow 2024

This weekend the reboot or multiverse of James O'Barr's The Crow comes out:

Soulmates Eric and Shelly are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

So, we have our tickets for tomorrow. BF told me he hasn't seen any of those old movies or read the books (ouch), so we are doing something different.

While I have watched all 4 movies, tv series and fan-films along with read plenty of books & Comic Books based on The Crow. So, he is going in without any idea about the history while I have plenty of history.

This is rare because he has raided my dvd collection but then again this is a indie comic book that when it came out few people knew who he was.

To me, this wasn't reboot but The Crow 5. Eric and Shelly in the credits did not give them their last name so it's just two characters with the same name. One of the main differences in my eye was the revenge killing. In The Crow I the killing was poetic, in this one it's just brutal. If you watch The Crow 2024 just consider it another spirit of vengeance out getting justice for a loved one.

BF: This was his first time seeing any The Crow movie. He was shocked at how gory it was but liked the story. He informed me that he now wants to watch the other movies and tv series. So for those who like their Anti-Heroes on the bloody end of justice than this movie is for you.

I am curious although I don't think it should have done Eric and Shelly in any way. Just avoid the comparisons and make him a totally different character.

The gravitas attached to the original is impossible to scale.

I do wish they named the main characters different name. That would have worked better since in the comic books there are different Crows.

I could even understand this version of purgatory as his version. The ending messed me up and broke comic lore.

I've always wanted to see an unconventional looking Crow. Its established that any one can be brought back...what about a short fat guy? Danny Devito as the Crow!

Just watched it. It's pretty solid as a bloody revenge flick. NOTHING like the first movie (which I don't care for).

Like that it came up with its own mythos and gave us a hero who isn't "cool" in the conventional sense. Dude straight up sucked at what he was doing at first, and I love that.

Over all a fun popcorn flick.
