Which version of Hawkman's Thanager do you prefer?

There have been so many over the years. Do you prefer the one first seen in the Silver Age? The eighties Shadow War? Alan Moore's glimpse of their more terrifying nature in Swamp Thing, Grant Morrison's peak into their more "artistic" side in Animal Man? Hawkworld by Tim Truman?

Silver Age Thanagar.....the original concepts are always the best.

Tim Truman's Hawkworld was a nice reboot of the concept though....unfortunately, instead of it being a retcon reboot, DC editorial decided it needed to take place in the here and now of the then post-Crisis DC Universe. This led to the Silver Age Hawkman becoming the clusterf.... of the character he is today.

Hawkman today is DC's answer to Wolverine. It works for some people. I am just glad to have a Hawkman in the DC Universe. I don't care for the new Hawkgirl (Kendra) though. I always thought that since John Stewart (Green Lantern) got popular from the Justice League cartoon show that they should have kept the Hawkgirl (Shayera) around and give her an indestructible mace, but they never went that route.

I would think that the Hawks will be rebooted after Blackest Night

            I think so also!

I am thinking some of those dead people like Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Elongated Man...etc are going to "save the day" and they will be mysteriously brought back to life.
You wait. DC is going to cheese out that way. I will bet money on it.

The silver age version of Thanagar is the best, and lasted the longest. The other versions...well, Hawkman seems to suffer from the same malady as Aquaman and the Atom, Reboot syndrome. Seems every 6 appearances or so, he gets another reboot!

Personally, I like the original Egyptian Prince Golden Age Hawkman the best, but the seventies Thanagar policeman was a good take on the character as well...the rest...blah!

I really liked the Truman version(except the non feather-y wings), if DC would have just let it stand as the then current/Silver Age version of the Hawks it would have worked out better.

Silvaer Age Thanagar & (Rann as well). Always prefered the nifty scientific societies over the much overused dystopian versions. Just like I prefer shiny future cities over Mad Max devastation.

The original was great, and had a great many things to over the DCU. Thanagarian technology was heavily used in the JLA satellite for instance.

Truman's version wasn't bad, and was conceived with Hawkman creator Gardner Fox, but Fox passed away before Truman could start work on Hawkworld. Setting it in the present was Mike Gold's idea, and Hawkman has yet to recover, although Johns did his best. I just wish the true Silver Age Hawkman would return. It's been long enough now, no one cares about the Hawkworld version now.

It seems most of us are surprisingly fans of Truman's Batman Year 1 style Hawkworld!

It is a real shame that they couldn't have just left well enough alone instead of a complete Wonder Woman style reboot with the ongoing series.

Truman's book could have easily been retconned into the then-current version, even with him appearing in Giffen's JLA at the time.

Anyone read Void Indigo? It supposedly came from a rejected Hawkman proposal of Steve Gerber's.

I never read Hawkworld. so to me the silver age Thanagar is the only one that counts.
