Geoff Johns on Aquaman?

Given his focus on Mera in Blackest Night, and stating that he's working on Black Manta next year, I think that's a huge hint that even if he's not working on Aquaman immediately, it certainly sounds like he's setting things up.

Are you doing something with Aquaman next year?

Not in the way you think, but Black Manta for sure. He's a character I've always liked, and I've got some pretty big ideas for the direction I'd like to take him. For me, Black Manta is in the same vein as Black Adam and Captain Cold and Sinestro and Black Hand. He's a character that I've had ideas about for a long, long time. He's a character I really want to crack open and explore. Black Manta is one of the vilest of the villains, if you look at what he's done over his history. And he's certainly a great visual.

^^^ I sure Hope Not... If he even does it,.. they Need someone Else to Draw the Book than Schiver,.. Flash Rebirth 5 hasn't even come out yet, & I am starting to get a bit upset over the endless BS Delays.

I think Johns may be the only one that can give the majority of the fans (myself included) the Aquaman they want but haven't seen for a loooong time now.....I'm not sure I'm in for another "Rebirth" style mini-series though. I agree that Flash:Rebirth is taking waaaay too long (ironic for the Fastest Man Alive). Just boot up a new Aquaman Series and fill in everything as you go along....don't even bother trying to explain away the mess of the last several years....just pretend it didn't even happen. Everyone will forget about that crap anyway after awhile, especially if the new series kicks ***....

He's quit Adventure Comics and JSA. Blackest Night and Superman Secret Origin is finite. That leaves Green Lantern and Flash.

I think Gary Frank could draw a good old school Aquaman.

I wonder if they are going to try bringing in an Aquaman from another Earth a'la the Power Girl "fix". Then they can have a "new " Aquaman without all the reboot baggage of the dead one. That would explain Aquaman's appearance and the subsequent explanation of in Final Crisis. I'm figuring they can reboot Martian Manhunter anyway since nobody really knows what happens when a green Martian dies, do they? Perhaps he's in some sort of "healing metamorphosis" form, yet susceptible to the Black Lantern takeover?

Aquaman is almost at the point that Hal was when Rebirth hit. Everyone wants him back in his classic form. Just put an A-list team on it and get it done already.

Ya know.....it really doesn't make sense to up the ante with Black Manta if you're not going to do his arch-enemy, Aquaman, also....Methinks it's only a matter of time before Johns gives ol' Arthur Curry some lovin'

I always kinda thought Johns would be doing something with Aquaman. He may be a co-plotter or full-on writer, but any involvement he has ups the class factor sigificantly.

He did a legendary job revitalizing GL and an average job doing the same for Flash. I think the real test is to take a character than nobody has really cared about for decades and turning him into an A-lister. That would cement his place in comic lore.

He would also have to be particular about artistic duties. While I agree with a previous poster about Frank being a good choice, I think Aquaman needs a young hotshot or just someone with a more contemporary approach. I'd like to see a Kubert or perhaps Jim Lee since they seem to be eager to work together.

In any case, an Aquaman relaunch is a welcome book.

Frank does a Real Fantastic Job Drawning Superman , as well as Realizim...
Not Sure What Reis is doing after Blackest Night,.. But I would personally like to See Him Draw an Aquaman Series..., His Sketches & drawings of The Sea , even with the Dead Aquaman are Fantastic imo.
