Sienkiewicz is still a swear word for Horrendous art for me ever since issue 18 of New Mutants came out. I loved it and the Titans back then and all of a sudden the art went nasty. i did keep reading thanks to claremont but i hated looking at the pages. The only time it was really good again was when Art Adams did the special.

Agree with you 100 percent, the art really made that book stand out at the time and characters like Warlock and Magik and the demon bear story would not have worked as well with a different artist.

Batman: Anything from the 30s to the 80s. I love all versions of the character up until Kelley Jones, Norm Breyfogle, Jim Lee.... I HATE those guys drawing Bats. Neal Adams, Marshall Rogers, Garcia Lopez....

Xmen: John Byrne. His Xmen are what I read. Nobody draws Wolverine better.

Hawkman: Alex Toth. I always liked the Superfriends version of Hawkman's look the best. When I draw him, that's what I picture in my mind's eye. Mind you, I draw him a bit more detailed but you'll find the Alex Toth in there if you look.

Flash: Carmine Infantino. His best work probably.

Micronauts: Mike Golden. He captured the feel of the toys but brought in his own things as well. Nobody did better on the comic.

Superman: Gotta go with Curt Swan or Ross Andru.

              Spidey: Ditko or Ross Andru.

Teen Titans: George Perez. Never cared for his work on any other characters but his style was perfect for the Titans. Much like John Byrne on Xmen. These titles were these artists' best work.

              There's soooooooooo many more.

I can go whip out some BS Batman Artists of the Late 90's...., I think Jones was probably the Best one, outta some of that Nonsense, But I also Liked his 2 Vampire Batman Stories, so his work grew on Me. But Reguardless, Norm's Work was Fantastic IMO.

The Problem I had with Jones is this ..

His Batman was Fine,.. I have No Problems there...
But after 1st reading his work in the 2 Elseworld Stories, inwhich Batman was a Vampire, ... it seems as if He couldn't Turn that Off when He Started Drawing Batman,.. Making it seem to Me, Batman was Still a Vampire.

Also,.. I just am not a Real Fan on all of his Dark Shading, while Drawing the Basic Humans..., Everyone to Me , looks undead or like a Flipp'in Zombie.

I see your point...his people do have a tendency to look ghoulish....Wrightson had that same quality too...and of course, if we're tracing the lineage, so did "Ghastly" Graham Ingels of EC Comics fame.....

I find Jones' Deadman extremely creepy....I think he may have done the skin 'n' bones version before Alex Ross did the all skeletal version in Kingdom Come.....I didn't care for the Deadman prestige-minis he did.....
