    RIP Dick Durock

    Wonderful Wonderblog: Dick Durock, R.I.P.

Sad, the man who played Swamp Thing has passed. Durock was a really nice man in real life and I was a fan.

    I loved the Swamp Thing.

I didn't know he was the Imperious Leader.

I was really surprised to find out that he died last week. There was hardly any coverage of it online.

          RIP Mr. Durock!

The guy must have been a trooper. He had a thankless job as Swamp Thing, esp. on the USA series where he argued with Arcane for hours on end.

Never got to watch the Swamp Thing TV show back in the day because it didn't air in Canada. Big enough fan of the original that I'd probably enjoy it even if it was a bit campy and it looks like they at least improved the suit. I'll have to track down some eps.

He was a very nice man...a couple years ago I sent him a Swamp Thing comic and asked if he would sign it. He not only signed it, he sent me a nice short letter thanking me for being a fan and a color 8x10 signed & dedicated to me.
                  RIP, Mr. Durock!

This is sad news to hear. I met Dick Durock at a Comic Con in Knoxville Tn. back in 2001. He was indeed a nice man and enjoyable to talk to.

While he is best remembered as the Swamp Thing, his next best role is for those who, like me, either loved or watched the Incredible Hulk TV series, he played a monster that would scare you more than Lou Ferrigno.

In the season 4 two parter "The First", Durock played the skinny, evil Hulk that the bitter old man Del Frye (The Late Harry Townes) changed into and who fought Lou Ferrigno in the finale. Durock's Hulk was to me, far more scarier than Lou in makeup when I was a kid.

Mr. Durock told me he truly enjoyed working with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno, but like both Bix and Louie, he also hated having to wear those contacts.

Farewell Dick Durock. You will be missed.

                    R.I.P.

Very sad. I never had a chance to meet him, but every story I had ever heard was that he was a true gentleman. RIP
                      It's all good!
