New Mutants is the next X-Men Movie?

    X4: New Mutants?

Makes sense in the world of High School Musical and Twilight they go for the teen audience. Note both X-Men First Class and X4 New Mutants are in development. We'll see which one gets out of the gate first.

    New Movie Rumors
with word that as well as X-Men: First Class and Deadpool in the works, we are indeed looking at a fourth X-Men film, referred to as X4. And, with a couple of words that will raise a squee with the right people… New Mutants.

New Mutants was the very first X-Men spinoff title, crated by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, with a bunch of new young characters joining the school, such as Cannonball, Karma, Moonstar, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Magik, Warlock, Cypher (who had the mutant ability of translation – not every power was warrior-worthy), telling edgier, gritty, interpersonal X-stories, eventually seeing the team go all military and turning into X-Force.
Although I'm guessing there are folks out there that would rather see an X-Force movie with Cable and co. Anyone want to see Gerard Butler as Cable?

If they can actually get a hot Cheyanne girl to play Dani Moonstar and another hot asian girl to play Karma and actually feature them as characters i am so looking forward to this. if not oh well o'll see it once like i did the others.

I didn't get the impression from the comic she was supposed to be hot. 'Course I think it'd be harder finding an AVERAGE actress to play the part. Don't seem to be a lot of those around....

I actually wouldn't Mind that at all,.. to be honest.
I would rather see a Space/SCI-Flick Adventure from the Future with the character However,.. But Do like the Way you think on Casting.

I just saw the Wolverine Movie Last week ...,
& I personally liked this Movie Better than any other X-Men Movie.
The other X-Movies, just never felt like X-men,.. However this Wolverine Movie very Much felt Like Wolverine. Sure some stuff was re-written & made up differently from the Books, But man,.. I thought it was really, really well done & Liked the Movie alot.

I'd rather see the New Incarnation of the X-Force on the Big screne rather than the New Mutants, or Robbie's X-Force.

the whole franchise has been new mutants ish anyway with teenage rogue, iceman, pyro, and colosus so why not bring on the 2nd tier characters from new mutants.

if they cast and asian or native american actress for the roles of Karma and Dani they will be very attractive (I can't think of any actresses of these ethnic groups who are young that aren't)

marvel needs to explore other avenues rather then going to the xwell too often (it got silly in the comics too)

According to CBR's comic-film column last week, the actor who portrayed young Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine is claiming he's to start shooting X-Men: First Class soon. It should be interesting to see how they dance around the movie continuity of a much younger Ice-Man and absent Angel from the early team if this does indeed make it to the screen.

If they make a New Mutants movie I hope Cannonball isn't portrayed as an inbred hick from Kentucky. He can be a hick, but let's keep the inbreeding out. We need some local heroes!

Under that criteria I nominate Canadian-Vietnamese actor Siu Ta. From the CBC law show This is Wonderland, and the girl John Cho ran away from in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Not out of the realm of possibility given the number of films in the franchise shot in Canada, and the number of the non-top billed X-Men that are portrayed by Canadian actors (Iceman, Colossus, Kitty).

I've seen her in local stage theatre and she's got the acting chops to pull off the kind of complex character Karma was in her earliest appearances.

Casual movie goers don't really seem to get out of sorts over continuity and reboots like we fans do. They generally accept Tim Burton's Batman, Batman Forver and Batman Begins as seperate movies unto themselves and I don't think they really lose much sleep over the differences. Folks can watch the Pierce Brosnan James Bond and then just as easily accept the new Daniel Craig Bond even if it's obviously not the same character in terms of approach.

I didn't see anyone outside of fandom (or even too much within the comic store culture) really batting an eyelid when it came to the inconsistencies between Liev Schreiber and Tylor Mane.

I also don't think the movie producers are really that concerned over keeping true to the original Five, since it's only the harderst of the hardcore fans that would demand that. It didn't bother me too much in the Ultimate X-Men reboot for example.

I don't think most people would miss Angel too much from the line-up. Ice Man was always younger than the rest so I don't think a 12 year Bobby alongside a 16 year old Scott and a 18 year old Jean or Hank is too much of a stretch, although maybe they do want to keep the characters closer in age to each other. I don't think putting Storm in the original line-up is necessarily a bad thing either, if you want to try to fit it into movie-continuity.

I actually think it would be kind of fun to see the kind of Betty and Veronica soap opera you would get with both Emma and Jean in First Class. It certainly shook up the status quo in the comics in a very positive way since Jean and Scott were so played out by the time Emma came over.

Younger actors (other than Zack Efron) are generally cheaper as well. With the law of diminishing returns on sequels the further you get into the franchise over time, why spend the $$$ getting Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Ian Mckellan, Patrick Stewart et al back when you can simply recast?

It's actually Fox that is exploiting the xwell since it's that 'Pool of characters that they seem to have the rights to (pun intended). Although I don't doubt Marvel has some say in it, particularly when it comes to film release dates... it's not in their best interests to have X4 coming out opposite Captain America for example. It would be interesting to see how the deal is structured when it comes to which characters Fox can use for their X-Men spinoffs. Has Marvel licensing divied up a specific portion of characters in their library that fall under an X-Men license for example? When they give a studio the rights to make X-Men cartoons or Video Games or Movies, do they hand them a binder filled with characters designated for X-Men licensees?

Marvel Entertainment itself is pushing the Avengers franchise mostly, but I think they have the most to gain and can keep the lion's share of the profits if Iron Man 2, Captain America, Avengers and Thor are successful.
