Ah, Vartox...the hairy hero with a hankerin' for Lana Lang! He appeared quite often in the Bronze Age, didn't he? He has a rather '70s lookin' style, doesn't he? Missing only the gold chain & astrology symbol medallion.

Pre-Crisis Terra-Man (the western version) was a really cool character. His origin by Neal Adams was one of my favorite stories.

The post-crisis eco-terrorist was a dumb move. Hated it!

Oh man, I always hated him as a kid. I didn't understand why Supes took crap off this hairy moron.

But he was kind of a cool, odd character, in hindsight. Cary Bates swiped him from Sean Connery's Zardoz!

Him and Grimbor must have shopped in the same places.

                Maybe Grimbor got them first?

I hated him too for the same reasons. One of the more blatant rip off's of the time.

One of the few DC characters that doesn't seem to have come back in any form ever. Same with Claw the Unconquered. And Scooter.

Swing with Scooter would seem to be something Grant Morrison and Vertigo Editors would start salivating over.

                            Which guy, Claw or Scooter?

Y'know.... now that you mention it yeah. Not sure I'd WANT them to do the Vertigo version.... but still; a certain, masochistic part of me is curious now.

I'd rather see him wormed into the regualr DCU though. Maybe Scooter's the one who finally takes down Black Lantern Super-Hip?

....and on a weird "forgotten characters" tangent; Sugar and Spike WERE in the original Crisis. Maybe THEY can fight Vartox next?

That I WOULD like to see...especially with some new art by Mike Vosburg, a talented artist who is pretty underrated. His work is watered down by various inkers, but if you ever come across it, grab a copy of his creator owned supernatural series LORI LOVECRAFT. Great sexy art!
