    Namor finally joins the X-Men!

It's interesting to me that it took so long for them to try this out given Namor is a mutant and the number of reboots he's had.

This was one of the first comics I bought with my own money, so I'm thinking this was a long time a comin' since I read this one as a kid.

    OK, excuse my ignorance, but...

Wasn't Namor born of a human and Atlantian? I don't know much about the X-Men, other than there's Wolverine, Storm and Professor X is their boss. What does Namor have to do w/ the X-Men?

Is this just another one of those crossed universe stories?

I can't remember the exact details of that early issue of the X-Men from the sixties, but Lee and Kirby established that Namor was a mutant... I think mostly because he's got those little winged feet and can fly, which is a trait that neither human nor atlantean possesses.

In that issue, both Magneto and Professor X tried to recruit him into their respective Mutant Groups.

I've always been surprised no one has cashed in on this notion before, although I guess there was a tagline that was something like "Marvel's Mightiest Mutant" on John Byrne's series.

At least there was a logical argument that Namor is a mutant that fit in neatly with what has been established about the character. When they declared Cloak and Dagger mutants, I thought it really smelled of desperation on their book facing cancellation. Although it looks they they too have now joined the X-Men, defecting over with Namor from the Dark X-Men.

I'm digging the Alan Davis art in the preview and I would love to see him replace Greg Land on the art rotation in Uncanny X-Men.

I just read the Whole Utopia Nonsense...
It was good,.. but kinda was pointless in the middle 3 issues or whatever, & all the Tie -Ins just sucked period... Including Dark X-Men 1-3. Those were the Worse.

Some interesting stuff for me,.. I didn't Know that Rogue lost her "Ms Marvel-esque" powers. I think thats Lame-O..., & Then Gambit is now an X-man again,.. I didn't know that.

Ever since the Dark Reign stuff, & Norman's Secret Illumini version of His Villians he put together, Namor was a part of that group. So Was the White Queen Emma Frost.

          *SPOILER*

In the Series,.. you kinda think Emma's betrayed the X-men,.. & her & Namor joined Norman's Dark X-Men...., well Emma & Scott flipped the cards back fold, & tricked Norman,.. ended up getting a Small Island off of the Coast of California called Utopia, where Mutants can live Free. Namor and Emma seem to have a very strong Friendship, thus he's an X-Man Now.

They say this was the 1st X-men/Avengers crossover in like 15 yrs...
I was kinda disapointed with the whole series myself as a whole, considering just How much I like Dark Avengers & The New X-Force book. Way too Many Holes, & story lines that didn't have closure with the characters, it was just some Chaotic Battle, that in some ways lead to nothingness. The main story Plot rapped up, but thats really all that did.

I will pass on this New version of the X-Men book.
With Fraction writing it, & not really digging Most of the Utopia Series,.. which he wrote, I feel I will not really like it.

I just read the "List" ..
Bendis was always given Crap for his Obvious Not aparent love for THE Hawkeye....
He claimed this Book would Take The character to New Hights, & show people he Actually likes good old Clint...
Well, Clint ended up Getting His Arse Kicked by Ares, & then Arrested.
I can't stand Clint in that Ronin Costume.... That's worse than DC Trying to Push the New Beetle down everyone's throats.

BTW... How does Namor Get his boots on his feet, so those wings still stick out ?

BK, if you look close, Namor is barefoot.

I soooo sick of Bendis.....Marvel really needs to go in another direction and let someone else spear-head all of this for a change. He's made suck a mockery of the Avengers franchise since he Disassembled them it's not even funny.

The Dark Avengers are an interesting approach but in reality they're just a high-profile version of Thunderbolts. Are we really expected to believe that this book has the legs to be an ongoing series indefinitely? In all actuality, the Avengers should be able to get their act together and unify and kick the crap out of these Dark Avengers, thus ending the book. But I'm sure Bendis won't allow that.....

The only exposure I've have to Sub-Mariner was the 60s Marvel Men cartoon. "Stronger than a whale, he can swim anywhere..." I also have one comic around here somewhere that one of my students gave me. But y'know, I like the green Speedos.

LOL, he is kind of cute in them. I am a huge Marvel fan, and I can really appreciate Namor as a charactor, but truely he never really been a favorite of mine. I have not yet read this Dark Reign series, but I am anxious to do so.

about time, although him joining the x-men doesn't really make sense, i would settle for a good crossover story. if namor isn't ruling atlantis it doesn't really flow together.
