Roy Thomas or Denny would be my choices (go knows they could fix all this continuity crapola DC has dug itself) but the PTB's will probalby avoid them as too old school (or maybe just too old)

Likewise Bruce could be great but imagine how badly the animation could go without him - want a hint try to watch Braniac attacks - and WB is getting really good revenue from this channel.

O'neil has said often he didn't want to take on the overpowered 70's superman since there was really nothing he couldn't do hence he spent the whole first year knocking his power down.

he is better at human interaction than he is at super-fights hence why the GL run in Hard travelling Heroes is still a popular reprint, as is the Rha's al Ghul storyline.

Big Denny O'Neil fan, but cosmic stuff isn't his cup of tea. He was the 2nd writer on JLA, and walked away from that, and then did the same on Superman because he wasn't satisfied with his work.

Now if they could get him back to edit the Batman books...

I think it's more likely you will see Warner bring in somebody from their publishing arm, and probably someone who's first interview will contain the phrase "I've never been a big reader of comic books...". Which may not be a bad thing, it certainly wasn't when Jenette Kahn took over- she came from kid's magazine publishing and I seem to remember DC doing stuff then like the Dollar Comics, Digests etc. that they hadn't tried before. Of course, she was paired with a seasoned vet like Dick Giordano, who was also open to change.
A newbie who understands publishing trends & the ins-& outs of Warner hierachy, paired with someone like Mark Waid or even Jimmy Palmiotti (who's name has been mentioned as a replacement to Didio a few times). I'd expect Didio around for a while after the new publisher is chosen, and then after they settle in an editorial shakeup. Karen Berger would be a good choice as well to replace Danny-Boy.

Yeah but Jenette did a lot of the innovative stuff you mentioned BEFORE Giordano returned to DC. She was there in the mid to late 70s and Giordano was more of an 80s DC guy when he returned to the VP slot.

I think Johnny Storm has hit it on the head. The Publisher position is more of a business postition than a creative/editorial job. It's the Dan Buckley job at Marvel, not Quesada's

While Levitz is a fine writer and no doubt it helped him make better decisions for creative by working that end of it, he had always worked on the business end and wrote the comics on the side until his management role grew too time consuming to keep up the writing.

Pretty much everyone who has been mentioned is a creative/editorial guy, much more in line for the position Didio has or Giordano held than the post Levitz is leaving and Jeanette Kahn held.

I don't have a clue on a name for Levitz's post. Maybe that George Brewer (Sic) guy, who runs the graphic novel, DC Direct and special projects division. He works with contracts and more bottom-line type issues. or Bob Wayne?

But really, I feel like johnnystorm, that Warners will reach outside the company with some up-and-comer who has made some waves in publishing.
