Tyroc was pretty lame. It was about time they had a non-white Legionaire, but Tyroc came from the planet where all the black people went when they left Earth...WHAT?!? Let's overcome racism by saying things were so bad in the future all the black people packed up and left.

Plus his outfit was beyond hideous.

I have a great fondness for all of Keith Giffen's Legion of Substitute Heroes, and always thought this one-shot was highly underrated.

They were delightfully lame.

I was delighted to see so many of these guys not only show up, but graduate to full Legionaire status in Geoff Johns recent Legion revival in Action Comics.

Just goes to show you how much people really like to root for those underdog characters.
