I just started reading this and I'm enjoying it a great deal! I had read the 1st trade paperback of Stars and STRIPE and I have to admit that I found it a bit too precious and given that it was Geoff Johns first work in comics, you can tell he's still finding his feet as a writer.
It might have been that he was collaborating so closely with James Robinson and David Goyer, but he really comes into his own as a solo writer with the second volume of Stars and STRIPE focusing much more on the "legacy" aspect of the character.
I can see why they have published this under the JSA PRESENTS banner given the fact that it starts to fill in the gaps between Robinson's Starman and JSA. Particularly in it's exploration of the relationship between Starman Ted Knight and the original Star Spangled Kid. We even get a glimpse of Jack Knight's Punk days that Robinson aluded to in the pages of Starman.
Also... Seven Soldier's of Victory!
Check it out if you're into JSA and Robinson's Starman!
