BLON-DIE!!!
Oh and I pretty much meant a lot of the guys who carried westerns before Eastwood. They were good in their time, but guys like Randolph Scott (RANDOLPH SCOTTTT!!!) seemed namby pamby once Clint rolled into town. I'm not a huge John Wayne fan, but you can't deny his identification with the genre. I'll agree not all his movies hold up too well, but I do like The Shootist best. Great movie, and a great way to go out!

Really?
Even Robert Duvall,Gene Hackman,Kurt Rusell and dare I say Even Mickey Rourke(The last outlaw)
Heck I love the trinity films with Terrence Hill.
I could go out on a limb and say Even Kevin Costner(Silverado,Earp, dances with wolves)
But yes I can Agree Eastwood is a sure fire Box office western draw. However all the guys I listed can wrangle in the crowds as well and are tough as nails character actors in the western genre.
For me Wayne was far to hit and miss.He did what like 200 films?
I would say roughly only 15-20 of them are really any good. The shootist being the best of the bunch.
None of Wayne's flicks even compare to Eastwood's though.
I am glad that there really are a lot of western fans still around though. We are a dying breed my friends,a dying breed.
