I actually didn't know that Superboy Prime was Dead .?.

I just finished reading the 3 Books from Last week ...

Blackest Night #2
Batman Blackest Night #1
& Green Lantern Corps #39

Man,.. OHHHHHHHH Man is this stuff Just Bad Arse.

I dunno if only reading the Main Tittle is gonna be Good Enough for this Book... A Ton of Key Points seem to happen in some of the other books as well, ... Like the Insight to Whats going on with Deadman, Dick , Tim & Damian, seem to be in the Batman book,... & The Dead Green Lanterns story seem to be hanging around in the Corps Book ... , but for me,.. I am getting everything, so I will be fine.

A couple of Neat stuff to me ...

On Page 2 of Blackest Night,.. When the Now BlackLantern Hawkman Tell's Ray (The Atom) over the Phone,.. to "come over" .. Man was that Creepy & Just Bad.

Then on Page 4 Where all you see is Jordan going threw the Bat Signal,.. Man,.. was that a cool Pic.

& Then Aquaman !!!! Man was He HardCore !
& When He used that power of calling the Fish to his Aid,.. Damn,... is it just me,.. or did everyone finally actually see just how HardCore that Power could Actually be ?!

Interesting How the Black Ring can Grab the Spectre,.. But Not the Deadman,.. or rather only half of him ..

In the Corps Book,..
I think it's kinda neat that Black Lanterns can see the Spectrum of Light in each individual person .... Well,.. when we see the Pic of Rayner, Guy & Kilowog,.. Kilowog & Rayner are "Will" ,... Then ofcourse Guy is "Rage" & Then they Had Him Yelling & Swearing at the Same Time.

BTW,... Mera is One Bad ***** ! I never Knew.

Only Blackest Night Superman comes out this week,...

Too bad this "event" is spilling over to books I read like Doom Patrol and Outsiders. I was really hoping to avoid it.

^ You can look at it 2 ways:

1) There's been so much death in the DCU since even the original Crisis that there's lots of buried bodies that can become Black Lanterns. Everyone knows someone that's dead.

2) DC is using the attention of Blackest Night to give other books a bump in sales with the cross-overs.

Probably a little of both.

I don't have a problem with it as long as it makes sense....Remember the "Crisis Cross-Overs" when just the red skies would show up in a book and little else?

For at least the last year or so, whenever Geoff Johns or Dan DiDio were asked about the fate of Aquaman at comic-con panels, the answer would inevitably be... "Blackest Night".

I think even with only a couple of pages, Johns has shown how COOL Aquaman can be (even as a dead guy) and hopefully will be again. The Super Friends sound-effect when he was using his telepathic powers to summon the sea life was mind-blowing!

To my knowledge he isn't....but I wonder if he has been infected somehow by the Black Lanterns....that could explain why he turned from a good guy to a psychotic villain.

To tell you the truth, I though after Legion of 3 Worlds it'd be quite a while before we saw Superboy-Prime again...apparently not.

Yea, my thought was only getting the main 8-issue story. But, like you said, I seem to be missing some key moments like GL and Flash fighting Manhunter. Plus with some of the covers you've shown I'd really like to see what happens (Blue Beetle vs. Booster Gold for example). I may have to rethink that.

I know I've been a bit critical of the content of this, but I must say, the enthusiasm for this series, and the lengths in which it is penetrating the DCU really shows what an overall cluster Final Crisis was. They should have just bagged that for this.

I was thinking about Who the Black Lanterns are so far..., It's Kinda Everyone Who Can Not Sell & Market a Book For Whatever Reason. DC's trying to pump New Life into Characters & Books that,.. Well Suck on the Sales end of things ...

2 Issues In & It's already Greater than the 7 Issues of FC,.. + You Understand Whats going on. + The Characters represented, you actually Know & Like , rather than Some over Focus on re-writing some Half Arse Version of the New Gods with some Japanese Hero's No One Gives a Damn About. FC Was a Complete Waste of Time & Money ...., Ohhh Wait, Maybe Not because for whatever Reason People Like Dick as the Batman.

I was trying to not look at it at all. Seems to me a new book like Doom Patrol needs to find its direction more than it needs the distraction of a mega-event.

Well considering that the Doom Patrol has had a couple of lackluster reboots in the last several years alone I can see people shying away from even trying the title. I myself am skeptical. A Blackest Night cross-over almost guarantees a bump in sales and hopefully those that try DP just for Blackest Night will stick around. However, if DP sucks from the get-go, then the point is moot.

I gave the first issue a shot, and I know it doesn't help that it's shorter than a normal issue, but I'm feeling a great deal of indifference towards this latest version. Which is a shame because Keith Giffen has been an excellent writer in recent years on all his books outside of the Superhero genre (with perhaps the exception of the spoof Hero Squared), notably for Boom Studios, although I really liked his scripting for the english language version of Battle Royale as well.

What I REALLY want to see is Geoff Johns launch a Doom Patrol series with the premise he only hinted at in their brief appearance in Teen Titans a couple of years ago.
