the clone saga was good. I never understood why sp many people didn't like it. A clone appearing for out of peters past on to find out it is peter -that's classic comic book material.

issue 400 when aunt may tells pete she always knew and then dies while Ben has to sit outside the window and not even see her before was one of my favorite comics. i hated that in the end they just did away with it and pretended it never happened.

I enjoyed the Clone Saga well...right up until they said Ben Reilly was the original...and Peter Parker was the Clone. Then I was ROYALLY PI$$ED OFF!!! Fortunately...after a hughe outcry from the Fans...they fixed it.

Yeah, that's the part where it really went too far. To invalidate the majority of the audience's Spider-memories was very stupid. I think they had "new guy" envy. Every major comic character was replaced by a new guy at one point in the late 80s/early 90s, so Spidey had to follow suit.

Plus the Clone Saga dragged on and on for eons. That was another reason for all the hate.

And yes, Aunt May should have stayed dead. She died a good death. And as I recall, Spidey dealt with it well. Unlike the current take where he makes a pack with the devil and sacrifices his marriage and life for his aunt who has already lived past the normal life expectancy!

That's cause although Petey likes MJ's pie, he likes Aunt May's wheatcakes better.....That's just soooooo wrong.

One good thing about the Clone Saga... we got Norman Osborn back. At the time I thought it was a really bad idea given how well I thought Harry was filling out the role in the nineties under the pen of JM Dematties, but Norm's been so well utilized since then, that in retrospect it was brilliant. I don't think anyone has been better serviced as Peter's "arch enemy" than Norman given of deeply personal their relationship is.

I haven't read much Marvel since Norman came back, but I always felt the Goblin should have stayed dead. His (and Gwen's) spectre still hung over the books. His influence was always felt. I thought it cheapened all those years and all those stories to say he wasn't dead. And then JMS did that god-awful, unthinkable bit about him and Gwen getting it on...yuck. That makes the Clone Saga look like Masterpiece Theater. Somebody greenlight a new Babylon 5 so this guy will leave comics alone.

TOTALLY AGREE!! Bringing Norman back was one of the best high points in Spiderman for Years! I thought it was very well done too...a side effect of the Goblin Formula, gave him a Wolverine type healing factor. Plus the fact that Norman was manipulating the Jackal, and everything else in Peter in Peter life from behind the scenes for years.

Normally, I'm not big on bringing back Characters from the dead either...but with Norman, they DID IT RIGHT!!!!

I agree. I loved the recent "American Son" storyline where just when you thought they couldn't find a way to make Norman an even bigger ****** they do! I've also enjoyed "dark reign" overall and of course that's all tied into Norman. Before this Norman/Green Goblin was soley a Spidey villian. Unleashing him on the rest of the Marvel U in a Lex Luthor like role has really moved him up to the top tier.
