Blue and Grey ... classic Infantino look comes first to mind, followed by Dick Sprang Golden Age. I do like the current black and grey version with more military style utility belt. Live action, it will ALWAYS be Adam West, but I do like Christian Bale as a second!!!

Well...Blue is a highlight for black in the Comic's(look at People with Black Hair, it's highlighted with Blue). That said...I grew up on Neal Adams Batman, so I'm a Big Fan!
But I must admit...My favorite look is the Black & Gray Batman:Year one! Although...I don't mind the darker Blue in "Hush", which also has the Pocket Belt I like.sigpicComment

i guess it depends on the version you saw first
Comics
I love the 70' adams/aparo version as I was a little guy in the 70's but as I have been introduced to more versions I actually love the Dick sprang 40's look the best (with the big grin). I really dislike the modern colors
Animated
seasons 1-3 of batman the animated series. I grew up on the 68 filmation reruns but nostalgia can't beat the style of the Timm version. especially with it's similiarity to the 40's Fleisher supermans
Live action

I liked Kilmer's Bat-suit too. I liked Kilmer better than Keaton, as far as look goes. If he'd be cast in a serious Bat-movie, he'd have given Bale a run for his money...well, not really, but he would have been pretty good.
Bale nails the 70s-80s driven, but non-crazy Batman. West IS the SA Batman.

The Best Batman
As much as I like Christian Bale as The Batman, and as functional as the costume in Batman Begins was it had no "personality" as a costume.
Give me the classic blue and grey drawn by Neal Adams, Jim Aparo, Jim Lee or even Alex Ross.
Kevin Conroy was the best voice of Batman.
Adam West will always be my favorite Batman, because he was the first Batman I ever saw. Keaton was a pretty good "modern-age" Batman. I didn't care for either Val Kilmer or George Clooney. Christian Bale has managed to capture both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Although, he scared the crap out of my 5-year-old nephew. (Way to go, dude, really kid-friendly, there.)
If I had to chose I would choose no oval. Even though I grew up with the oval Batman.Shameless self-promotion -

I despise that stupid rubber suit in all it's variations. I think the classic blue & gray suit looks best.Comment

Neil Adams pretty much defined Batman for me. I didn't even know his name until well after his version had become iconic in my world.
That said, the black and gray suit with the military-style belt and boots just makes so much more sense. I think it really adds to his non-super-powered persona.WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.Comment

Agreed! The Pocket-Belt can actually hold Weapon's & Stuff. The old belt with Cylinder's on it(while it looks cool)...wasn'y very functional.sigpicComment
