Anybody ever see the Superman musical from the seventies? I think the TV version is still on You Tube somewhere? Probably the only Superhero musical that sort of worked.

As for Spidey...I think most folks are breathing a collective sigh of relief at this news.

      Wow! That is pretty bad.
      YouTube - Superman musical

And you have to admit, much odder choices have been made into highly successful and entertaining musical theatre.

I was there the night of the huge blackout of 2003 when Evil Dead the Musical debuted at the Tranzac Club in Toronto, and even performed on the lawn outside the theatre with car headlights, I knew this one would be a monster smash. I just didn't realize how big it would actually become each time it was remounted.

And who would have thought Jerry Springer the Opera would be as good as it was.

Which reminds me that I have to purchase my tickets for this...

I am a huge fan of both Spider-Man and Broadway Musicals. Even so, the only reason I even considered this show was that Julie Taymor was attached to the project. Her work on the Lion King was just awesome - the opening number, "The Circle of Life" with the Parade of the Animals through the theatre was really sweet. It was one of those things where if the show was open while I was in the City, I would have checked it out.
