I hope I live as long as Clint and look half as good.

Oh yeah, I like the BL stuff;-) I must be some kind of comics hypocrite. I *****ed up a storm when Superboy Prime was tearing peoples' limbs off, but Psycho Pirate got a "COOL!" response.

I loved SuperBoy Prime Just being so Damn Bad. All the pwrs of Superman with Hate ...., seemed pretty justified how Psycho That Guy went..., I was just P-ssed when He Killed Conner ,.. But I guess that didn't last long,.. so I no longer have anything to Complain about.

That cover with Donna and her baby is disturbing. I guess I am an old fuddy dudd. I just can't justify going there with a story with guys in tights.

As long as she's not getting it on with Terry. Although knowing today's comics, maybe she is.

Naw seriously ,.. if it's not your Cup of Tea,.. cool Bud, whatever floats your boat. The Idea Behind Blackest Night,.. is , IT IS suppost to be a Horror Story with Super Heros. And so Far, they are Doing a Pretty Damn good job at it. I am sure when the story is over, somethings& Idea will turn Back to the way they were, however the Silver Age of Cheese is Probably Gone,.. & won't be back in DCU Continuity ever to the level it once was. Which to me is good,.. I need a little more depth to my reading .

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Silver Age cheese either. I think mainstream super hero comics were at a great middle-ground in the early 80s. Stories adult enough to entertain the older crowd, but for the most part, safe for kids. Sophisticated, intricate plotlines with well-developed characterization. Much like the Justice League toon. I think after Dark Knight and Watchmen, the genre went too far into the adult-themed stories.

I am a fan of Geoff Johns, but I have been occasionally disturbed by the level of violence and gore in his books. I think this is taking it to another level.

I need to try it out before I make my final judgment, but a part of me feels these characters should have never been taken this far into such dark territory.

But I guess I'm in the minority.

I agree that those two Graphic Novels changed Comic Books FOREVER! But I don't know at this point...if it's possible to put the Genie back in the Bottle. I'm also not sure I would want them to. If Comic Books hadn't moved on to an Adult level of Story telling...I probably would have stopped buying them by now.

I agree with your assessment. I enjoyed the story enough to look out for issue # 2, but wish the violence was not blood splattering. I would have preferred to see the Hawkman scene with same emotion but less red. But I guess this is their zombie story.
                          It's all good!

I never really cared for Dark Knight ,... & After seeing WatchMen ..., everyone can keep that too.

I think the Direction of all the Blackest Night stuff, is being handled with enough Intruge as well as Allure. The stuff so far thats been released, if very, very well thought Out, & is very Captivating to say the Least. It IS meant for a Horror Story Meets the DC Universe, & has been said as Such. If anyone picked up the Blackest Night Tales of the Corps #3 , there is a Writer Commentary with Johns in the Back of the Book, where he covers the Pages of Blackest Night #0 with Feedback on the set up for Blackest Night, as well as what each page of the Book is meant for,.. as well as a bunch of stuff that perhaps the average Reader would not even Know or think was apparent in the Plot.

This is a Meant for a Super Power Horror Story. I am Confident that with Johns at the Wheel, this whole Blackest Night Will have closure, and will be able to shed some light in the DCU with the Vast amount of Dead Super Hero's that have Died recently, & or not so recently. Some might even come back to the Land of the Living, and Hopefully with some, with the rencarnation of them in the pages of the Books pump new Life into characters that were all but pretty much Dead to begin with Obviously with reading,.. but more so with sales and the Marketing Stand Points of the character in general. It was not so long,.. that a Good Story Pumped Life Back into the Character of Hal Jordan,.. as well as the Green Lantern Corps,.. then Now, with the Return of Barry Allen. Flash has had repeated Books Tank, & Tank Again ,.. it seems no Matter How cool Flash's Rouge Gallery is,.. No one is buying his Books,.. thats why its Obvious to me,.. this new direction was Choose. If you look at some of the Main Players in this Book ,.. Martian ManHunter, Aquaman , The Hawks,.. Ronny Raymond FireStorm,.. whether you like it Or Not Folks,.. No One is Buying books of these characters, & people are Barely even supporting the Group books these characters appear in.

The twist of whether or not this story will even pump new Life into these Dead Characters is really not forscene yet,.. However Obviously the direction of everything Before Hand, ( pun intended) seems to not even Be working.

The constant complaint about comics being to dark ,.. or too edgey,.. or "Hey,.. it's not like it was" ,.. or why don't they make them like they used to ? ... Come On People. .. Think about it,.. if that Crap Really sold a Book today,.. thats what you would see. Face the Facts Folks. DARK Sells by the Boat Load. Thats why they Make so Much of it,.. & they Will until it Doesn't. Reality TV Anyone ??? ...

There is just No kid I know of that think that My Mego's are Better than His Star Wars or Marvel Legends,.. or think that Robin running around in a Pair of Green Undies is cooler than the Tim Drake Costume. Ideas & characters and Toys evolve for reasons.

Reguardless. I love everything so far,.. & so far the Set up for this is greater than ANY yearly event in quite sometime.imo

Just because bad taste is in vogue doesn't mean I have to like it.

I'll shut up. Like I said, I'm in the minority here. I'm sure it's a well done storyline. Johns usually delivers.

But sometimes, even he doesn't. I think a lot of us thought Infinite Crisis would set some thing straight in the DCU and they didn't. So I can't say I really think Blackest Night will be the end of all the death and a good deal of the darkness in the DCU. More than likely, the high sales will mean we'll get even more. And I guess that's what most comic fans want nowadays.
