    Marvel Zombies 4

    Hey Guys,

    Anyone Read this ?
I waited untill I had all 4 issues, & sat Down Lastnight & Read them all...
It was Almost like reading alittle Horror Movie ,.. with Marvel Characters.
The Previous Issues of the Tittle always had some elements of cheese, with the idea of the Books,.. Which made some of the reading Twisted,.. But with some Dark Comedy.

Marvel Zombies 4,.. Is just Dark IMO. Characters show up,.. that haven't really been in the other Books....., They Brought the Mavel Monster's in to Battle.

Morbius , WereWolf By Night, Man Thing, SOS ( Hellstorm) & a chick, who's name eludes me at this time, were all Fighting the Zombies, with the Original Marvel Zombie Present , Simon Garth.... Toating around a Still alive Zombie Head of DeadPool.

I liked the Story,.. Thought i was Neat, without giving anything away. It was kinda cool to see the Marvel Monsters fighting the Zombies.

However,.. I guess in September, they are about to go to the Same Well again.

                >Anyone Read this ?

I haven't, but I've been kinda curious about the whole series. Anyone got a checklist for the Marvel Zombies storyline? (I'm bettin' you can get compilations of them nowadays.)

                >How are they gunna do that? When half the team is dead?

....um.... aren't they ZOMBIES.... If a normal hero can't die I'd imagine it's easier for a zombie.

                Comics is gettin' confusing....

                      Hmmmm....

I finally got a chance to read the first three parts. I thought it was okay. Considering how passionate the folks on both the love AND hate sides were I was kind of expecting more. I didn't find the first one all that gruesome. The covers were the most gory part. Although they did seem to be ramping it up with each series.... probably a combination of relief that the previous series wasn't panned and trying to keep the shock value high. Still; it's below the level a lot of the old EC comics ran at.

Story-wise it was okay. A somwhat novel take on the "evil dimension" story. The first series was the best. Part 2 was the same sort of stuff you see in most zombie comics (there's ALWAYS a hidden cabal of survivours) and part three didn't really make sense. So.... you need samples of the zombie disease from the zombie world, even though you've alrady got zombies in the REAL world infecting people....?

One complaint I heard from a lot of detractors was that the series portrays the heroes in a negative light. Well, being made into a zombie DOES kinda limit your hero-ing.... but by series 2 they showed signs that the hero-ness was winning out with a lot of the zombies. So that complaint seems kinda unfounded. (IF you've actually read the book.)

I think the best part of the series thus far was Mark Millar's original conception in Ultimate Fantastic Four that led into the series of minis. Although Sean Phillips miniseries art was far better suited to the subject than Greg Land's stuff in UFF.

Kirkman's two minis were pretty farcical and generally played for dark humour in sharp contrast with what we were expecting from his Walking Dead. Arthur Suydam seems to have found his niche zombifying classic covers the the same brand of tongue in cheek *nudgewink*.

I liked the change of pace with MZ3, particularly since it uses Warren Ellis' revamped Machine Man. He's turning out to quite a fun character. The concept is starting to lose a bit a steam here given the fact that they are digging out the D-listers to fight them, which I guess can be part of the appeal.

Haven't read MZ4 yet, but given the Marvel Monsters versus Zombies premise, I'll definitely give it a shot.

Anyone read Marvel Zombies VS Army of Darkness? Worth checking out?

That one I didn't like, 'cos it really didn't make any sense sending Jocasta to the Zombie world. And with the superhero fights it kinda felt more like a regualr superhero comic. (PLUS the "to be continued" thing kinda bugged me.) The monster one might be neat. You can never have enough monsters.

Marvel Zombies 4 with the Monsters,.. is a bit more on Pace with part 3,.. because they kinda set it up from there..., I personally like 4 the Best,.. The Thought process for the story, is a lot different than the 1st 3 chapters by far ..., I disliked part 2 the Most,.. Just kinda thought it was a waste of time after reading it.... it was too Forced.

Yeah, I can see that. It looked like the point was to demonstrate that the hunger goes away.... but they added the survivours and all that; and it really seemed blah. (Probably 'cos EVERY zombie story does the "small outpost of survivours schtick.)
