I agree with the GL vs Iron Man pair-up..: GL would pulverize Spidey..

With a power ring which could become a steam-roller..?

What are webs going to do against that...? Spider-strength.., maybe, but with GL's space-flight capability..?

I'd agree Spidey's a stronger opponent, but unless he gets in some lucky pre-emptive punches, Hal'll cream him.

As for fame on a side note, yes I'd agree Spiderman's stories have gained a lot of familiarity in our public consciousness, at least for us geeks far and wide, much so than DC characters, arguably more than Bats or Supes. More depth and connectivity in terms of the human spirit, I'd surmise. At times there's been over-exposure, like in the 70s (like Batman in the 60s, Punisher/Wolverine in the 80s..), but that's to be expected.

    >I just think Superman, Batman & Spider-Man have something special to them that set them apart. To a slightly lesser degree The Hulk.

Ultimately there are only four superheroes, and you've mentioned them! Every other superhero is a permutation of one of these four:

    -Superman: the gooder-than-good guy
    -Batman: grim agent of justice
    -Spider-Man: flippant adventure seeker
    -Hulk: reluctant hero

....not that I'm saying everyone else is a ripoff; just that these four are the ultimate templates.

    Here's another one.

Here's another one. Can anyone possibly name more classic GL stories than classic Spidey stories? I don't think so. I never bought into everything being pure marketing although it's a factor. I think in general some characters resonate more with people and thus are given bigger marketing pushes. I actually like Green Lantern by the way. I just think Superman, Batman & Spider-Man have something special to them that set them apart. To a slightly lesser degree The Hulk.

Comparing the great and legendary Superman to your two-bit second string journeyman nobody...is like comparing Mozart to Vanilla Ice...

That's ANOTHER superheroism: your overall power level is directly related to your popularity. Same with your build. Superheroes are like rappers in that respect; the more popular they get, the more ripped they get. (remember when the Punisher first appeared, and was kinda skinny....?)

    >I love Batman,.. But that was a little far fetched too

He spent Hero Points, and rolled a couple of column shifts....

I hope Hector and Sentry realize that THAT is the reason BATMAN has
become so overblown-----it's not because it actually makes sense---
but it's because he's EARNED it.

Yeah---it's out of hand I guess.
That's not to say I don't get a kick out of it when
DARKSEID comments that BATMAN is the only human who has dodged his
    OMEGA BEAMS successfully
