All Green Lantern Would Have to do is Create a Giant Fly Swatter outta His Ring & Smack Spider-man once,.. Like he did in the Toon. End of the Wall Crawler... Nuff said.

Hell, I like 'em both! Always have! I favor Spidey far more, but in all honesty, both characters have had highs and lows recently.
On a strict power basis, GL would mop the floor with Spidey, likely from a near-Earth orbit if he was so inclined, but that'd be a very dull story. Sort of like knowing that Superman could tear Batman apart in a heartbeat whenever he wanted, but it's more interesting to see Batman get a couple of licks in (I do want to see Superman flex a pinky and send Batman clear across Gotham at least once, just for some payback from all the times he's gotten his keister kicked though).
Besides, the real winner this round is Ryan Reynolds - a new franchise means steady work, lots of cash and likely points on the back-end, and he gets to go home to Scarlet Johansson, whereas we get to argue about which superhero would win in a fight.
Damn you, Reynolds!!!!Leave a comment:

This one's my fave. One of the very few highlights in All Star BatmanHA! My favorite "powerless against yellow" scene of all time was in New Teen Titans #4. The Titans are forced to attack the JLA, and Robin puts his yellow cape over GL's ring hand and kicks him right in the face!
Again, I love GL, but that was priceless!!!
I think Spider-Man's one weakeness is Marvel's inability to publish a good Spidey story in the past 17 or so years.

You Don't get out Much Huh ?
Maybe When you are 6 reading a comicbook from the 70's,.. I can understand some of the Apeal. ... But we are not talking about that ,.. & Spider-man is Far from a more interesting character,... His story has been told far to much ,.. it has become tiresome.
The Dude lives with his Aunt,.. & runs around life completely consumed by some chick,.... Yeah, more Interesting if your a Psycho ....

& Like I stated Before,..
Don't even get me started on that Far Fetched BS that we are Lead to Believe this guy Just Magically showed up one Day,.. & with no Prior experience Sewed that suit Flawless for the 1st time touching a Needle.
Yeah, right... We alllllll Know who customize,.. what our 1st yr of sewing looked like,.. let alone the 1st suit we sewed.
There is Nothing that can be more interesting in Life than Space,.. Aliens & the Unexplained UnKnown & Questioning of it all.Leave a comment:

Spider-Man is a more intresting character with abetter supporting cast. Hal Jordan may be "cool" but Peter Parker's real-life problems make him easier for a reader to relate too.Leave a comment:

there's an old saying:
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.
Just messing with you BK.
Spiderman is Spiderman. GL is a ring. Without it he's pretty useless. End of argument.Leave a comment:

>I never understood that weakness for ALL yellow objects
Super powers work a lot like voodoo. Voodoo is "sympathetic" magic. That is, I can cause an effect on a target by causing a SIMILAR effect on a SIMILAR target. Super powers are based on something that's sort of like something somewhat related. To wit:
-Spiderman gets bit by a radioactive spider, so he gets powers like a spider.
-Green lantern's power is based on green, yellow is a component of green, so it has special power over his abilities.
Ultimately there's no REAL reason to any of it. The theme just kinda pulls it together. Sort of. (Considering how many I've squished over the years, I don't think real spiders have precognitive abilities.)

Something just occurred to me: Since the ring runs on the battery, and needs recharging every 24 hours, why not transform the battery into a ring?
That way, it's ALWAYS charged up!
Or does that make too much sense?
I never understood that weakness for ALL yellow objects; to me that's just a cop-out.Leave a comment:

HA! My favorite "powerless against yellow" scene of all time was in New Teen Titans #4. The Titans are forced to attack the JLA, and Robin puts his yellow cape over GL's ring hand and kicks him right in the face!Green Lantern: Rendered powerless by yellow paint. Runs on batteries.

Hmmmm....
Green Lantern: Rendered powerless by yellow paint. Runs on batteries.
Spider Man: Always super strong and agile.
Doesn't seem so cut and dry.

It's hard to overcome just the overall popularity of any given character
and just to stand on it's own merits as a character ALONE.
The legacies of BATMAN, SPIDER-MAN etc. are so strong...well...you know...
Anyways, Hal Jordan has a real Tony Stark/Bruce Wayne
"cool guy" thing going for him---except Hal doesn't have the dough---
and in my eyes that makes him even more "cool" in many respects
than Stark/Wayne.
Between Hal's dense history (which isn't as "big-time" as the top guys
but still "strong") and his overall character/powers---there's a real
good chance that a live action feature featuring "Hal" GL could really
hit a home run.Leave a comment:
