The Return of Casper, Wendy, & Hot Stuff

Well, we joked about it in the THUNDER Agents thread, but this is no joke. This is in today's Previews book from Ardenn Comics (the folks who put out that kinda weird updated Flash Gordon Series):

PREVIEWS: The Comic Shop's Catalog! - Comics & Graphic Novels

Wow, I am...well, I dunno. Look at Hot Stuff! They don't even resemble the originals. So not behind this series, I just don't understand the move. Can't wait to see the new improved Richie Rich. Gotta ask my daughter what she thinks though- see how the new look appeals to a 7 year old not biased by old age.

On the upside, Dark Horse is releasing a $10 HC edition that reprints The St. John Casper #1 & the Harvey Casper #1 in full color. That I'll order.

      That blows!

Why does EVERYTHING have to be updated? Can't ANYTHING remain timeless?

Which is why my wife won't let me watch "Gran Torino".
I actually have chased somebody off my lawn. And I kept a ball that came over the fence.

          SWEET MERCIFUL FATES!!!!!

WHAT T'HELL HAPPENED?!?!!?!!?! It's like everything WRONG with comics in one place! They're manga'd AND X-TREME'd up.... They're like a superhero team now? And they're fighting an ancient evil, and they live in a hidden world parallel to our own? What next, fifteen different spinoffs? A 60 part mini-series that changes the Harveyverse forever? "The Death and Rebirth of Casper?" "Who will be the NEW Good Little Witch?"

This doesn't surprise me...this is what most kids like now anyway. That's IF they even read any comics at all...........

You know, Disney doesn't muck around with their characters much. The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse computer-animated series for preschoolers is very traditional. And it keeps the name out there, and sells the merchandise, and let's kids grow up with Mickey Mouse. He's not "extreme or edgy".

All this is missing is Poochie.

Another unoriginal cookie cutter artifically hip and edgy re-imagining with anime shoe horned in as well! I'm shocked!! Really, didn't see that coming.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Right....the closest they came to modernizing things was when they gave Goofy a son (Max)...everything else is status quo, even though the looks have been slightly upgraded for the current era.
