Google, boy. MiracleMan for the less informed. He's basically a British clone of Captain Marvel.

Miracle Man from Eclipse was out in the 80's. Guess that was before the Image kids. I'm sure DC is thrilled about this. It might finally spur them on to do a good Captain Marvel series. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. Yeah from around '85 to maybe '90 or so? So it's definitely been a good 10 to 15 years since people have heard of him.Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

All I think it means is that Marvel can reprint the original stories, do new stories based ONLY on the original stories, and use the name MARVELman without fear of suing themselves over use of said word (which is why he was renamed Miracleman, which in itself is odd since Marvel also had a Miracle Man.) I would be surprised to see the Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman stuff appear from Marvel, at least not for awhile. I think we're more likely to see a Masterworks book this year of the original stuff. I was less than impressed with the announcement. I'm not even certain how well a reprint of this old Brit stuff might do...from what little I've seen it's not near the quality of the Captain Marvel stuff it's derived from (but I could be wrong, as I haven't seen much of the originals, so maybe it's better than I know). And then there's the British factor going, unless Marvel rewrites with American referencing instead of British phrasing, which pretty much defeats the purpose of an Archive edition.
And I can't imagine MarvelMan fitting into the Marvel Universe proper. They have the Sentry which they don't know how to use. Captain Britain is continually revamped by each writer he gets assigned to. Where to go with another super-powered British hero?
I guess they kinda get to thumb their noses at DC for landing what's basically Captain Marvel. And at Image for the McFarlane debacle.
More over-hyped Marvel announcements..from the buildup, I was expecting to hear that Marvel landed Harry Potter or Twilight. This mixed-up mess of creators & copyrights? ...good luck Joey Q.Comment

This is supposedly with Gaiman's blessing. He got Quesada in touch with the owner of the property. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

If it isn't Miracleman then who really cares?? Like another poster said...Marvel can probably print re-prints of the old Marvelman series."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

It would be nice if Marvel has pulled this off. But this character is a legal mess. Almost as bad as the 66 Batman TV series.Comment
