    The Wrecking Crew

I always had a fondness for these guys since they were in Secret Wars, but they really are Marvel's equivalent of The Royal Flush gang, a group of generic thugs. It seems like they are either used for throwaway action sequences or to fill out a super villain crowd scene whenever they show up (which seems to be fairly often).

In the latest New Avengers preview, what's interesting to me is that they seem to be emerging as a dissenting faction within The Hood's gang, which I hope they will develop. The only other instance of this kind of character development I can remember is the Runaways issue where it's revealed that one of them has a kid that is getting into the super-villain business.

I don't know much about the history of the Wrecking Crew. Were they always this generic seeming or did they actually have some kind of backstory and definable interrelationships in the group dynamic

      Hmmmm....

Every now and then you'd get little bits of a past from them; like in Damage Control. (Which is my favourite appearance by them. "Cooties touch!!")

I thought this thread was about the studio musicians back in the 1960's and 1970's -- they called themselves The Wrecking Crew...

I remember a couple of appearances by them back in the day and they always seemed forgettable. It's almost like you could hear the gears in the writer's mind turning. "Got to get this issue out. I know, I'll bring in the Wrecking Crew!"
